Owner description: bcnKITCHEN, just in the charming central district of El Born, is a local cooking school where we care about details, history, culture and gastronomy. Our love for food leads us from the school to a local food market in the very best center, where we buy some groceries and explain as much as we can around every little ingredient we see there, and back again to the school. Now, at this point, aprons on! Cook, learn, laugh, drink and enjoy while cooking. All around the kitchen, and then in the table, we’re going to get directly into Barcelona, Catalunya and Spain bite by bite, sip by sip.

“Great Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

My husband and I joined 9 others for this fantastic class. We started with a market tour where we were shown what to pick and why and a bit of a tour of the neighbourhood too! Amelia, the chef, is not only very knowledgeable about her trade but truly enjoys sharing her skills with others. From the experienced to the truly novice...we had a very young budding chef in our group...she treated all the same and imparted tips, suggestions and Spanish culture to all. We made gazpacho, pa amb tomaquet, Spanish omelette, paella and crema catalane and enjoyed every bite (along with some wine too!)
Have received all the recipes by email and will try to replicate at home with my new paella pan and the saffron I bought in Spain!!
One of the many highlights of our Spanish vacation...thank you Amelia and BCN Kitchen!

“Time well spent in the kitchen!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

I visited the BCNkitchen today for a 4 hour lesson in Catalan cooking- it was great! Booking the lesson online was easy and convenient- it was also easy to find the kitchen in el bron. The photo's don't lie- the kitchen is well laid out and well stocked - the table was set for us- very colourful :-), whilst we did the cooking. Before the lesson started, we walked over to the market- Amelia was the chef- so friendly and knowledgable. The walk around the market had brilliant sights and smells- make sure you take your camera along :-) Amelia bought all the ingredients for our menu fresh from the market. If you stay in a place where you have access to a kitchen- definitely pay a visit to the market and do some of your own cooking :-) Once we got back from the market- the cooking and learning started- it was great fun! Everyone had a go and we shared the workload. Once the cooking was done, we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labour. We made gazpacho, tortilla, seafood paella and Creme Catalan. I'm looking forward to trying all of these recipes at home. Great experience- a definite recommendation!

“Amazing... and delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

I took a class at BCN Kitchen last week, with my 9 years old son. It was such a pleasure! The class is great, we learn more about spanish (catalan) food, we have a real interaction with someone (the Chef Amelia!) from Barcelona and we have a delicious meal! The visit at the market is also really great as we discover the "food" side of the Barcelona people... The Chef is so nice, lovely, careful and very informative. You feel like home in these walls! My son was welcome and he enjoyed it. It is a must, a great way to feel the Barcelona life. Do it, you won't regret! Thanks Chef Amelia!

“Wow! What a great experience :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

We had an absolutely superb time with Amelia, a former head chef of a Michelin rated restaurant giving us a fabulous overview of the Catallan cooking culture. She led us through the streets explaining some of the history, answering queries intelligently & amicably, to the market where she pointed out the qualities of good produce. The cooking class was brilliant with good participation encouraged, along with nice wine to help us along the way. Beautiful food including gazpacho, tortilla. paella & Catalan creme was cooked & savoured by the class. Bravo Amelia for an excellent experience!!
