On our third visit to the Europark we were again impressed by this hotel, which provides an excellent base for a few days in Barcelona. We requested and were given a quiet room on a high floor at the rear of the building, which was totally noise-free.
The rooms are modern, well furnished and well maintained with an excellent bathroom with numerous toiletries.
The hotel offers an extended buffet breakfast with a good range of hot and cold food, fruit, juices, breads and cereals. We enjoyed this meal, which set us up for the day. However, if you don’t want a large breakfast, there are numerous local cafes for coffees and pastries.
A minor criticism is that although a kettle was provided in the room, only sachets of fruit-teas were made available. The explanation was that if you want coffee or normal tea, you should use room service. Take your own sachets if you want hot drinks in your room.
The hotel is well located for general tourism, near the Sagrada Familia and an easy 5 minutes from two underground stations. You can walk to most central areas in 10/15 minutes. If you have only hand luggage, travel from the airport is easy. Get the train direct to Passeig de Gracia, then 5 minutes walk along Carrer de Arago to the Europark. Don’t forget to buy a T10 ticket at the airport, which can be used by more than one person. For 9.40 Euro, you get 10 journeys, including to and from the airport. If you buy airport travel tickets separately it will cost you around 3.6 Euro each way per person, so with 2 people, buying a T10 will be much better value even if you don’t use the other 6 trips on the T10.
Finally, we enjoyed the menu del dia at the O Fiadeiro restaurant, located at 334 C Majorca, at its junction with Avinguda Diagonal, about 5 minutes from the Europark. Here you get a three course meal with wine for 9.5 Euro between noon and 4 pm. The restaurant is usually filled with locals which is always a good sign!
We recommend the Europark for a good quality affordable hotel in Barcelona and will return on our next visit to Barcelona..
