Just returned from our first trip to Barcelona, stayed here for 3 nights.
Location is very good; if you plan to walk to most of the areas then the hotel is about 15 mins walk to paseg de Gracia, which is very close to plaza de catalunya and Las Ramblas.
The closet metro stop is Girona which is almost opposite the hotel.
The metro is very tourist friendly and in some ways a lot easier than the london underground.
Hotel;
The hotel looks very new and the decor is definitely different to the norm. Hotel staff spoke english well and were polite but very conservative.
We (my younger sister and I) stayed in room 504, was very clean and bright. The room was facing the front of the hotel, which can be noisy due to the traffic outside, but we got used to this after the first night.
Rooms have a mini bar and there is also room service available.
Bathroom
Loved the bathroom, very black and white themed! The hotel provides you with a little travel kit that has shampoo, shower gel, shaving kit, and other little toiletries.
They also have a hairdryer so this can save you from carrying one!
Breakfast
Our booking was based on a room only basis, but on our last day there we decided to have breakfast at the hotel out of convience. Very over-priced and definately not worth it. We payed 26 Euros for the two of us and had tea and croissants for breakie.
Area
This part of Barcelona is very safe and you can feel comfortable walking around this area late at night.
There is a restaurant opposite the hotel called Das, initially we thought that this restaurant was very quiet and hence perhaps the food wouldn't be so great. But they have a set lunch menu, which inc starter, main, and dessert for approx 10 euros per person. Food was nice but limited choice for vegetarians, veg mousaka was quite under-cooked. But their pasta dishes were lush.
Taxi
We got a taxi there from the airport and a taxi back (out of laziness!) but if i returned back to Barcelona I would definitely go by public transport, soo much cheaper!
Taxi on our way to the hotel cost us 31 Euro and on our return journey back to the airport cost us 36 Euro.
Going out in Barcelona/Pickpockets
Just be careful and aware of your bags in Las Ramblas area and when out at night in old town area of Barcelona. Dont get put off by all the advice on pickpockets and safety in Barcelona, its the same as any big city.
If travelling alone or in a very small group of girls or guys, then i guess it would be common sense not to get drunk and vulnerable to thieves.
Port Olimpia is very expensive to go out, i payed 26 euros approx for two drinks, and a could of lads had payed 89 euros for a round of drink for 4-5 guys. This was in the bar Joker.
Catwalk is a great club to go to, its behind the casino in Port Olimpia.
Long Review! Hope you found it helpful
Have fun! :)
