“Lovely hostel with very friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Casa Consell with two friends. We had a triple private room, with shared bathroom. The room was small but adequate for such a short stay. The beds were comfortable and we had a lovely balcony, however the lack of airconditioning, and a rather pathetic fan, meant that we were too hot during the night. The bathrooms were clean and plentiful but very small.

Breakfast was served in the new part of the hostel, which is lovely and airy. Breakfast itself is simple, but adequate and well thought out. There is a kitchen, and fridge (with a section for each room), which was a lovely addition, and allowed us to keep our Cava cold!

The staff (perhaps all owners, I'm not sure) were incredibly friendly and helfpul, and really made us feel at home.

The location is great and very central - we walked almost everywhere - only resorting to the metro when our feet needed a rest.

I would definitely stay here again - and recommend it as a great budget option in Barcelona.

This was a fantastic place to stay for both the center of Barcelona, and for train links out. The owner is friendly the breakfast ,toast ,cereal , small cakes and juice perfect for the hot weather, kitchen was well fitted. Extremely clean and well located. Only downsides were the lack of air conditioning ( I'm british, june was fine but if it had been much hotter I couldn't have slept) and the road outside was busy until quite late, if that bothers you. Great value for money and I would recommend it for travellers ( I have interrailed on a different trip).Oh and a free computer as well as free wifi. We were given a larger room for no extra cost, the owner really tries to make you feel comfortable

Room Tip: tell Francisco if you want a quiter room/cooler

The hostel we are at has free wifi, free breakfast and an iron that we can use. It has it's own library, brochure counter, computer with internet access that we can use and sofa as well as kitchen for use. The fridge is also labelled for us to use! The toilets are clean and they provide you with both body and face towel! The staff is friendly! I love this place! :-)

This hostel is a great stay: the rooms were very quaint, also clean and comfortable. The location cannot be beat, right off of Paseo Gracia and about two blocks over from Las Ramblas. Also two blocks away from the airport tram.

However, if you are looking for suggestions of what to do in Barca and did not do much research, ie are backpacking, then you will not find much out much from the staff. While they were fairly helpful (and def friendly), they were not always easily accessible. Also, it was not a place to make too much noise in so if you are traveling with a group of rowdy friends, keep the noise down or outside of the hostel.

The hostel itself is great, but I think it serves some purposes better than others.

Nice little place to stay in an expensive city. It was a little hard to find, as we arrived at night and it wasn't marked from the outside. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We were put in a very small room on the first night on the second floor of the building, but they moved us to a bigger room on the second evening. There's a nice little community space with a kitchen and dining area. Also, they provide breakfast in the morning, which is very convenient. The communal bathrooms were kept clean. I think the rooms on the 3rd floor of the building might be nicer, but can't be sure. My only major complaint is that the internet wasn't working (they were apparently upgrading), and it was quite an inconvenience as it was essential for us to have internet access on our stay due to some business we had to get done. There is a communal computer, although it was constantly in use. Overall, it was a good experience, which was in large part due to the owners, who were very accommodating. I would probably stay here again.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Consell. The hosts were so friendly and helpful and the location couldnl't be better! We were able to walk almost anywhere we wanted to go. Our room was very clean, towels were furnished, and the bathrooms were also sparkling clean. The breakfast was served in a lovely room with a small balcony, and coffee/tea service was available all day and night! The kitchen facilities were very nice and there was space in the refrigerator marked for each room. We met the other guests over breakfast or having wine in the evening. I would defnitely recommend Casa Consell for anyone traveling to Barcelona.

Had another great few days in Casa Consell with the super helpful Francisco - The star of the show along with Amparo. Great location in a safe area just walking distance from most places
you want to go too. Nothing is too much for the staff and they go out of their way to make
sure you enjoy what Barcelona has to offer. Rooms are great and the shared bathrooms are
spotless clean. They even have breakfast for you. And if you want too cook there is a fully
equipped kitchen. For me - The Best Place In Town!!!

Room Tip: The best rooms are for three or four people with single or double beds with-in - some with in suite...
