“Fantastic location in Gothic Quarter. Slightly tired hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

I thought this was a wonderful location, good spot to wander right through the Gothic area from. Right on the metro.

A bit noisy but nothing too bad for a busy corner.
Felt safe on the streets around there, this may be an illusion though as the worst pickpockets in Europe are to be found in Barcelona!

The hotel is a little tired, not too clean in the bathroom. But we were comfortable enough.
My main concern was we were on the first floor and none of the windows could be locked. I asked the staff for assistance with this, but the windows never were attended to.
Staff were helpful otherwise.
Didnt eat in the hotel restaurant.
About 140 Euros a night, which may be a bit pricy
Fantastic location!

The hotel is centrally located. Thats the only advantage. It is a good walk of nearly 15 min from Ramblas. Otherwise, the rooms are very average with the bathroom doors not even closing properly. Though the morning staff was good, we found one of the evening front office desk staff very rude. The breakfast is served in another hotel nearby and is just average.

This hotel needs serious renovation! We stayed there for 5 nights in June and it was difficult to sleep because of the noise from the street. The first night i got up from the noise thinking i should close the window...only to realise that the window was closed and yet it was like hearing the whole street. Walls and windows have no isolation. Location though it was perfect. Very handy to be so close to subway stop and around so many shops and cute little streets, and just one subway stop away from barceloneta! In overall though i think you can find hotels with good location, good value for money and a little bit less noisy..

stayed in the hotel between 25th & 28th June 2012. Great location, clean rooms, bed and towels changed daily along with a thorough cleaning of the room and bathroom. Friendly and very helpful staff who spoke clear English. 10 minute walk to La Rambla and the nicest pastry shop next to the hotel too!

Stayed here for 4 nights and can't really fault it. We chose this hotel due to it's location and it really lived up to what we expected. It's centrally located in the Barrio Gotic with a metro station literally a couple of metres from the entrance providing easy access to the whole of Barcelona. It's only a short walk to all of the attractions of the Barrio Gotic, the Ramblas and the seafront. There's nothing better after a long day of sightseeing than to catch the metro back to your hotel and to literally only have to walk a few metres from the station to your hotel. Also, there are lots of places to eat out nearby so you're never stuck for choice. The breakfast was pretty average for a European hotel (the usual buffet selection) and it was served in the hotel down the street because they are the same hotel chain.
The room wasn't massive but it was plenty big enough for what we required with a very small balcony overlooking the main street to the left of the hotel. Great bathroom. We didn't experience any problems with noise and I would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it - mainly due to the location!

Room Tip: Higher floors will have less noise from the street.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our trip to Spain.

The hotel is situated VERY centrally, quite close to the Barrio Gotic, and within walking distance to La Ramblas.

The room that we got was quite spacious, and situated at the far end of the hotel. It was very comfortable, even though the bed was sagging to one side (probably the side that all the heavies sleep on :-)). Breakfast was served within a short walk opposite the hotel at Hotel Gotic. Standard fare, but suficient to get you started for the day.

The staff at the front desk was quite friendly, and spoke enough English to give some directions and information. The hotel is also within walking distance to one of the stops of the Hop On, Hop Off City Bus.

Our overall experience staying at this hotel was good, and we would recommend it for short stays in the city.

It's not trendy, the decor is a little tired and make sure you don't end up on the top floor - no windows, hot, skylight only. But... And it's a big but, it's cheap, the staff are super friendly and you could not wish for a better location. As many have pointed out, it's noisy, all night, every night. It's downtown Barcelona - what do you expect! Personally, I loved it. Oh and be sure to check out the bakery next door. Fantatsic!
