We have just returned from a three night stay at the H10 Itaca hotel which we booked through one of those online voucher companies for a very reasonable price which included flights with one of those budget airlines (we won't even go there with what I think of them!!).
What a wonderful hotel the H10 Itaca hotel is - from the welcome glass of champagne on arrival, to the largest range of complimentary toiletries I've ever come across in a hotel, our whole stay there was great. The breakfast each morning was really good - such a vast selection of good quality, well presented dishes to set you up for the day. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and I have to say, the quality of the cuisine was worthy of any top restaurant. Another evening we ate from the room service menu which was also expertly cooked and presented. Both meals were very good value for money we thought, we certainly didn't feel we were paying a premium for eating at the hotel as is usually the case.
We found all of the staff very helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble for any of them. Our room was very clean although a bit too hot (I don't think the thermostat was working properly), but then we discovered that although we were on the 5th floor, the windows do open! My husband thought they were great as they are electrically operated! The other thing we had a chuckle about was the phone in the bathroom next to the bidet!
The location of the hotel in relation to the Sants rail station is really helpful. We bought 4 day travel passes (approx £20 each) at the airport which covered all of our getting around on public transport. We did however, get a taxi to the hotel when we first got there though (long story, but on a previous trip to Venice we got horribly lost and very short tempered by using public transport from the airport to the hotel, so try to avoid those situations at the beginning of a stay away now!). The fare was just over 26 euro's, but well worth not having a huge row with Himself!!
