“Great location. Wonderful front desk staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

As mentioned by other reviewers, this hotel is very well located just a block from La Rambla, the metro station and generally where it is all happening in Barcelona. There is a lovely lady named Jessica at the reception desk and she is a real asset to the hotel. She was very helpful, warm. friendly and very patient with us, sorting out our family's bookings which got a bit complicated with some date changes.

We had 2 rooms and both had a little balcony and looked out over the street below but the rooms were nice and quiet obviously with good sound proofing to block out the general sounds of the city. The rooms were a reasonable size for Europe and were very nicely decorated, modern and very clean. There is free wifi in the rooms which mostly worked well, although we found it a little spasmodic late at night when there was probably high usage once guests were back in their rooms after a day out.

I read that some reviewers liked the breakfast however for us this was the only negative of this hotel. So I'm a little reluctant to say that we (all four of us) found the buns, muffins, bread and croissants hard, dry and unenjoyable and in fact, even though the breakfast was included in our room rate, we found, just up the road one block towards La Rambla, a lovely little healthy natural toasted sandwich and salad bar called Central Cafe where we ate each morning after the first morning of sampling the hotel's breakfast. Plus the Central cafe makes great espresso coffee which was lovely to have with breakfast rather than the brewed type (if you are espresso coffee lovers as we are).

All in all however the hotel was very good and reasonable value for money and we would definitely consider staying there again if we revisit Barcelona in the future.

Room Tip: If you are with friends or family and want 2 rooms 401 and 402 are side by side at the end of a litt...

We stayed in October, perfect location close to metro station and Plaza Catalunya. Room was clean and breakfast was great! Good value. We had a city view room and was nice to open our window and watch the city wake up.

The hotel is located just near the La Ramblas and the Universitat metro station.
The staff is great (the check in and check out processes are simple and fast)
The free breakfast deal is great.
The rooms are modern and nice, and the Wi-Fi works great.

Room Tip: We had an inner room

Perfect location, close to Plaza Catalunya and La Ramblas. Pleanty of local tapas bars to choose from. The room was pretty basic but well priced considering the prime location. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times.

We had an enjoyable visit here for 7 nights. We stayed in the Gaudi junior suite and it looked pretty much as described on the hotels website. Very nicely decorated and especially clean feeling. The room was fairly spacious, it had a very nice floor to ceiling glass enclosed terrace which was not very functional (windows were not openable) but certainly added to the feeling that the room was bigger. The smaller double rooms looked like they all had a small terrace that opened to the streets. I didn't actually get to see them so I'm not sure. Our room had a BIG glass shower in a large bathroom was that was also well designed. The terrace overlooked a side street which was quieter and pleasant but not especially scenic. We really liked our room. The location was excellent, just a block or two off Las Ramblas and Psg de Gracia. Metro station just around the corner, good bus connections and a more than a few tapas restaurants within a block. For the addicted, a Starbucks was less than a block away. There was no concierge but the staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about getting around. Free internet was great and there were two free business computers with a printer which really helped with trip planning and advance ticket purchases. The breakfast was our only disappointment. The breakfast room was in the basement with no outside views and given the exceptional food in most of the city not very inspiring. Not bad just not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel. If its warm enough to eat outside I'd probably skip the hotel breakfast and eat at one of the many restaurants close by. Overall a good experience and we'd definitively stay here again.

Excellent location, two minute walk from Plaza Catalunya. Receptionists were very professional and helpful (specially John or Jon in the evening shift). We had two reservations, 4 days the first week and 1 day the following week.
The room we got the first week was not very clean, drapes were so dusty I didn't want to get close to the windows. The base of the sink was filthy.
For our next reservation of one day we got an excellent room, very cleaned and spacious, wished we had that room the first week. Not worthy to pay extra for breakfast. I would go back to this hotel if they assure me I would get a room like the second one.

Room Tip: asked for a remodeled room.
