“Fab views from roof terrace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

This is a really good hotel approx 10 minutes walk to Las Rablas and harbour. There's also a metro station outside which is great as really easy getting around via tube. You can also catch the funicular to Montjuic from the station. Our room was on the 2nd floor, it didn't have a view but it was comfortable and was kept very clean. Breakfast was included in our rate and there was a good variety of items. It can get busy at breakfast so there may be a short wait. All the hotel staff we met were friendly and helpful.

The hotel has a fantastic roof terrace with a small pool. The views from the terrace are fantastic and it was really nice to sit on the terrace at the end of the day just looking at the fab views of Barcelona.

There are a number of bars, cafes and restaurants by the hotel and all were considerably cheaper than the ones in the more tourist areas. Really nice bar round the corner which did cava for 2 euros! Thhotel is on a fairly busy street so there is some noise but it didn't bother us at all.

I would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper don't have a room at the front

The Metro was just across the street. Plenty of eateries to choose from. The room was really comfortable, clean and quiet. The roof top pool was great. The taxi stand is just 30mtrs from the door but in Barcelona, they will back up in one way traffic for a fare. We bought well in advance and paid almost half price for the room and it was one of the nicest ones we had in the five weeks we were away. Our previous stay in Barcelona had been on La Rambla which was much noisier & busier.

The wife and I have just got back from a great holiday in the wonderful city of Barcelona.

This stay was enhanced by the accommodation that we stayed in at the Barcelona Universal!

The room was very nice, modern and clean and the bonus was that it was right next to the metro station Para-lel (on Line 2 or 3) and within walking distance to La Rambas - In fact as you come out of the hotel, turn left and take the 2nd street down which is called La Ramblas. Walk to the end and you will find yourself in the heart of it all.

I wanted to add for those of you who are Barcelona virgins as I was with some tips on how to get from the airport and to move around - if that is ok?

You can pick up a multi day pass which will allow you to travel on all forms of public transport for the period of your stay - choose the one that suits you.

You can pick these up from the information desk after you pass through customs. I believe it is on the right hand side as you come out.

Once you have your travel pass - if you are not in a hurry catch the No. 46 bus to Playa Espana where you can get the metro 2 stops to Para-lel. Please note there is quite a bit of up and down walking to do to get to Line 3 from this metro stop. So if you have a bit of luggage you might want to get a bus down the road.

If you don't want the hassle of the local bus (remember the fare is included in your travel pass) - you could take the airport bus for 5.75 euros which will get you to Playa Espana with a lot less hassle and in quicker time.

I would suggest on your return, to go for the airport bus especially if you are travelling in the morning rush and want to arrive in good time as the local bus may take a lot longer and get caught in traffic.

On the whole the travel pass will serve you well.

One stop on the L3 to Drassanes will take you near to the port where you can explore and see some wonderful sights. Or 2 stops down to Liceu will take you right into the heart of La Ramblas next to the market Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria.

All in all - we had a great stay - would recommend taking the tour bus and going on the cable car to the old castle.

Enjoy!

We stayed here for our daughters 21st - 3 double rooms. Hotel is right next to Metro stop so very easy to find on arrival. Rooms are very good size, really big beds and good size bathrooms. We never had breakfast included in our rate and thought it was a bit expensive - we were happy to go out and enjoy the many cafes that are avaialble and get the wonderful atmosphere of Barcelona. Location was reasonably good - we walked to and from Las Ramblas and also the harbour but if you are not keen on walking the metro is immediately in front of hotel doors. Hotel is clean and pleasant atmosphere, we would definately stay here again.

Lovely, clean hotel with great staff. Didn't have breakfast as €15 pp is too expensive. There is a lovely cafe just outside the hotel though, where we had beautiful coffee and food. About a 15 min leisurely stroll to the marina and La Rambla. Away from the influx of tourists so a really good location.

The hotel itself is lovely, the room was fine.
Everything you would expect- safe, wardrobe, tv, big bed. The bathroom was very nice and the shower was amazing- I didn't want to get out!

The actual location of the hotel wasn't in the nicest area, but you only have to take the short walk to La Rambla to find lots of places to eat, drink, and shop.
You can walk everywhere from this hotel, down to the harbour, to the main part of Barcelona.

The only complaint I would have is the noise from the road- constant cars, sirens, beeping, loud mopeds. But you kind of get used to it, and it didn't disturb our sleep.

The staff here are lovely, we had to check out at 12pm, but they let us leave our bags in the luggage room until 7pm.
English speaking staff on reception were very helpful.

We had a lovely long weekend here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel!
