4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

we stayed here for a week and i must admit before we went the reviews didn't seem very good so i was a little worried however i shouldn't have worried some people are so picky and seem to just like to moan! the hotels location is not central but is so easy and handy. to find this hotel from Sants station walk out of the exits opposite the information and ticket desks you will come out where the bike parking is, standing outside here if you look straight to your right you will see the corner of the hotel.. we had done a map but it was completely wrong it so easy to find and so close. when we arrived we were given a twin room but i requested a double (the deal we had bought was for either a double or twin and i hadnt specified before hand) however they offered us the usual upgrade for €8 per night, we managed to get this down to paying for just 3 nights but staying in the upgrade room for the whole stay. we did look at our twin room first though as apparently we had a view which we did of the magic fountain and the room was fine but basic. our upgrade room was really nice and even had a balcony in the bathroom! :) i must admit at night the noise from outside could be heard and was a little more on the weekend but i think if you stayed in one of the twin rooms it may be a little different as they seem to be in the middle on the sides as the doubles are on the corners. breakfast was brill a wide variety and some mornings there was new things, the breakfast times were really good i didn't feel i was having to get up too early like other hotels and the weekends the breakfast is on till later. the roof top bar was really nice and relaxing but a little expensive, €9 just for a burger and extra €5 for some fries. the pool yes is smaller than i thought the pictures advertised but its still a lovely little extra and was a good little suntrap to sunbathe and listen to the world go by on the street. the staff were all very helpful and when our flights got cancelled did everything they could to help us with a room if we needed it seeing as they had tons of people arrive at the same time. we ate a couple of times at the Italian restaurant opposite they don't seem very interested in you but the price was good and the food was great.we struggled to find other places in the area we wanted to eat but we could have explored more. the supermarket underneath the hotel unfortunately was closing down while we were there but we found another useful little shop just round the corner where we could buy snacks and big bottles of drink to take out with us for the day to buy these as we went out and about Barcelona we were paying double on one occasion triple for the same thing!! cross over the road and walk right, at the end of the road turn left its a few doors down. do buy a T10 ticket if there is two of you you can use it together you get 10 trips per card so if there is 2 of you you get 5 each. the tourist info desk is in the station, on the oposite side of the station walk through the middle of the ticket desks and the information desks and it there on the left they can help you with the other transport cards depending on your stay and how much you think you will catch a metro they do ones unlimited by amount of days. hope i have helped at least 1 person ;0

Room Tip: stick to your guns about the upgrade costs they seem to give in quite easily and it is worth the upg...

We paid 200€ for 2 nights in a double room WITHOUT breakfast. Let me tell you, this is NOT a 4 star hotel. The rooms on the 4th floor where I stayed are run down, pieces of the door frame missing, the tile was slanted on a grade and chipped in many places, furniture came right out of the 70's and never refurbished with dings and scratches. Uncomfortable spring mattress, sink was clogged, bathroom outdated and shower with tub and CURTAIN! (SO UN SANITARY). You could hear all noises from the other rooms next door and above along from the corridor. The ugly balcony was dirty and on one side gives on to a car park. DON NOT STAY HERE, BOOK A MARRIOT OR HILTON FOR SAME PRICE!

Dear customer,

First of all, I would like to thank you for choosing our Hotel for your stay in Barcelona and for taking the time to write this review. I was very sorry to read that the experience you had was not as expected.

We haven’t heard of anyone who has left the hotel so unhappy with his stay.
We try to improve every day. We are actually working on updating the rooms and bathrooms of the hotel. It is very important to us that the hotel can always provide the maximum comfort to our guests and make them feel like at home.

I hope you will give us another opportunity, to try our refurbished rooms. It is a big deception for us having let you go with such a bad feeling and bad impressions of the hotel.

The most important thing now, for us, is to win your confidence back. It would be a pleasure to welcome you again and treat you as you deserve, so please, contact us.

Best regards.

Picked this hotel for location next to Sants train station - across the road. Exceptionally good breakfast for 8.50 euros if you book at reception. Very comfortable beds and room. Reception staff sorted out our railway trip to Freixenet - 10 euros to include train fare Restaurant opposite was very accaptable for lunch. The hotel lifts worked very well..

The best characteristic of this hotel is the location. It is situated 3 mins stroll from the station and metro. As we were staying in Barcelona to combine a sightseeing trip and the Moto GP at Circuit de Catalunya, it was perfect. The reception staff were very efficient and helpful. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was good with a varied menu and good service. All staff spoke good English which was a plus up for us as we had a couple of incidences in the city centre when we were served with the wrong food as they didn't appear to understand us. The breakfast was extremely good and value for money. The bonus was the pool, sun terrace and roof top bar. The views were stunning and you would not believe you were in the middle of a busy city. We would stay in the Expo again if visiting Barcelona as it had everything we required. It was easy to get about using the metro and still plenty of things to do that we did not have time for on this trip. The only down side was the hotel was noisy at night especially Saturday night. People were talking, shouting and singing until the early hours. As we were up early for race day we were upset about being disturbed, On Sunday night there was a security man outside the lift when we went back to our room at midnight, who told us to be quiet! Too little too late.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less traffic noise.

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Expo in Barcelona. The rooftop pool and bar were excellent, providing a social environment to meet other guests, relax and enjoy the Barcelona sun. The location is excellent, with great views over the city, the staff were very friendly and the room and facilities overall were very good.

We booked this hotel on the internet hoping it would be within walking distance to the station. It was! We were also close to some fantastic little bars and restaurants. The hotel room was spotless and was large. The staff at the desk were very helpful and pleasant. The restaurant and bar at the hotel were good. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to have a swim because we were to busy site seeing. The bus depot was close and the Hop on Hop of buses were close by.
