“Outstanding value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Our group stayed here while attending the MWC event in Barcelona. This is one of the biggest exhibition events of the year anywhere in the world, so hotels are in high demand. On the map, this hotel is a bit removed from the heart of the city, but the access to the Metro is great. A five minute walk and a 12 minute ride and you are in City Center.

The hotel is modern, but not pretentious. The room was good sized and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well lit. I would say that the whole room was almost identical to the Renaissance hotel we stayed at last year, but for about half of the price.

About the only negative is that my room was overlooking a nearby expressway, so noise was a bit of an issue. You might ask for a room looking away from the busy traffic.

The food was nothing special, but again was OK.

All I really wanted was a cheap place to stay that was clean , fresh and modern and this did the job. Hotel on the outskirts but only 20 mins into centre of town on the metro and metro is easy to navigate. As others have said get a t10 travel card at the airport at train station and that will do u all weekend for travel. Wifi u didn't have to use your passport number to register just your mobile number ( free wifi on the sightseeing buses) to access the hotels wifi. Mini bar well stocked and cheaper than the main bar downstairs. Enough toiletries in the bathroom too....Plenty for all nationalities at the breakfast too choose from too.

Very clean, corporate hotel. Checked in, given key and tickets to match, delighted with that. Went to room, had twin beds instead of double. Not overly bothered by that. Unpacked in a couple of wardrobes and shelves. No drawers. Went to make tea, no tea and coffee facilities!? Is that a Spanish thing! Tried the safe, didn't work. Maintenance man came and fixed promptly.

Very clean, large and modern room. Quite far out. No bars or restaurants nearby. Metro is a stone throws though. 20 mins from centre. Nice and quiet, nice sleep and a good brekkie.

I was at the Alimara for a work-related training course. For two weeks, I lived, ate and took classes there. So I feel like I got to know the hotel pretty well. Let's start with the good. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern with a great shower/tub. There was a flat screen TV with a good selection of international channels. But there were also a number of problems -- some quite serious. First, the hotel is not centrally located. It is very easy to get into the center of town with the subway (there is a station quite close to the hotel). But the ride takes around 20 minutes. It's not that big of a problem. But if I was there as a tourist, I would definitely want something closer to downtown. The tiny gym, which contains one treadmill, one bike and one weight machine, is pretty depressing. The food at the hotel is definitely subpar. The thermostat in my room did not work. There was a loose screw protruding from the floor by the entrance to my bathroom. I noticed it because it scratched my foot on my first day. Although I brought it to the attention of a staff member, nothing was ever done about it. I therefore had to lay a towel over the screw everyday, so that I wouldn't injure myself during the night. The wi-fi situation is particularly annoying. The hotel offers free wi-fi in its lobby. But you need to enter in a complicated username and password, which only ensures access for 24 hours. After that, you have to go to the front desk to get another username/password. You cannot use the free wi-fi in your room or in the breakfast hall. And in the lobby, the only place where it works, there is very little seating. However, the worst part about the hotel has to be the elevators. I got stuck on one once. And when I pushed the alarm button repeatedly, no one responded. Finally, the elevator started moving and went to a floor that I did not select, and the doors creaked opened. I immediately went to the lobby to tell the staff that something was wrong with the elevator. The woman at the front desk said something like, "Yes, I know. Someone's in the elevator and won't stop pushing the alarm button." I responded: "That was me! I was stuck!" And the lady said, "Oh, well, I'm glad the problem resolved itself." Over the course of the two weeks, other colleagues of mine also got stuck in the elevators...

I enjoyed a 4 day trip to Barcelona and i have chosen to stay at Alimara Hotel. I was quite surprised in a positive way by the room. It was very clean and very nice decorated. The bathroom was also very clean and quite spacious, having a tub instead of a shower cabin :) The airport is in the opposite side of the city, but you can reach it very easy by subway. The metro station Mundet (dark green route) is very close to the hotel (2 minutes walk) and it is a direct route to the city center - Placa Catalonia (Las Ramblas). As a negative aspect, i'd like to point out that the hotel doesn't have a free WiFi connection in the room, quite strange for a 4* hotel (in the lobby the wifi was free). All in all, it was a nice experience and i can't wait to come back in the near future.

This was one of the best hotels in barcelona a bit far from the city center but well connected and good to be back to a quiet hotel after a noisy day at the city La Rambla.

The rooms were clean the staff courteous and the food excellent.

I higly recomment this hotel

I just arrive to the hotel, and surprise, surprise. I specifically asked for a quiet room when making the reservation and I have been placed in a room overlooking a highway, great! You listen to the cars as if they were in your room. For the time being, definitively, an hotel to avoid. Let's see if I least they change my room tomorrow.
Apart from that, rooms are nice.
