“Welcoming front desk staff. Ineffective air-conditioner.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

LOCATION: Good location. A ten-minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya.

HOTEL: Very friendly front desk staff. Nice, good size room on a high floor, new and bright. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Air-conditioner had to be turned on for a couple of hours before noticing any effect. OK shower.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. It was about a 10 minute walk to the city centre and was in a great location for restaurants and such. The rooms, while a little small, were clean and comfortable. The staff were warm and welcoming. A definite recommend even if a little pricy.

We were a family of 5 and stayed at the hotel for 9 nights in early May. Room was quite small for the 5 of us but very clean. The location was fantastic... about 7 to 10 minutes from the "happening" part of town. The staff were very helpful. It was a bit on the expensive side. We were given a special offer when I booked through the hotel itself so we didn't have to pay for the extra bed in the room as we were 5 but the room was meant to be for a maximum of 4 persons. This was a nice gesture on their part. Only problem was that the bathroom glass walls were a bit see-through which was not very practical. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

We stayed two days in this hotel. Really expensive for what you pay for. Wifi is not efficient within rooms - need to go to the entrance if you want to use it. TV are not working well (probably because of the low level of internet network). Good location in Barcelona, but too expensive (250 euros per night).

Firstly, thank you for leaving us your comment, we appreciate very much your collaboration that permits us improve our service.

In respect of your critics about the wifi: we would like to comment that as our hotel is new (built a bit more than a year ago) in the first months due to the new installations there were some tecnical problems with the wifi, nevertheless during last months we have improved the system.

And a small comment about the prices in our hotel: sometimes these are higher depending on the different events, seasons, etc. like in all the hotels. Nevertheless, in the most of the cases we try to maintain the ratio quality/price.

Hope if you come some another day to visit us it will be "calmer" period and you will feel comfortable!

we booked some triple rooms, compact and modern (open plan)
Very clean, and the reception were very helpful.
No pool (I'm sure this was advertised), but weather was rubbish anyway so wouldnt have used it anyway
Would I book again? - possibly not as other hotels for same price are better in Barcelona

Room Tip: there are some rooms with Bath - these are bigger

Really enjoyed our stay at the AKO. The reception staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the rooms were a clean, a nice size and the decor was contemporary. We stayed during an expensive weekend, 212 euro per night is a lot more than I'd expect pay but I'd say 170 euro would have been a more realistic price.
Small issues: There was no where to place shower gels/shampoos in the shower area(really nice shower) and there was no full length mirror

new, clean, modern, good location. can accomodate family of four commfortably. The sofa splits into two twin beds. Front desk helpful with any requests and good restaurant recs. comfortable bed, good housekeeping. nice towels and sheets. a couple of things about bathroom.. the shower curtain too short, and the shower head is a handheld sprayer with nowhere to to hang it from.( takes some getting used to) also the bathroom door is glass ( alittle bit see through) Other wise the use of space is clever and cool. Also free wifi, and free use of computers in lobby. Does provide room service breakfast but 12 euros a person. This hotel was chosen based on trip advisor reviews and because it could accomodate family in one room. The photos provied by the hotel are accurate.
