“Not very helpful nor friendly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

This review pertains only to the café and service.

Waitstaff unhelpful, rude and unfriendly. They don't even speak a good Spanish. It's not even busy for breakfast, and the server seemed annoyed to help me. Her face just expressed it all.

The coffee is bitter and burned. The pastries look dry and old.

The interior seems nice, but based on the service, I would not recommend it.

Also, although the location is good, if you choose to stay here, be careful at night in this area.

This is a very stylish hotel, the rooms are very spacious and very clean and the staff are very friendly in the hotel. I was returning from Sitges and this was a nice place to stay. It is very near the top of La Ramblas. It is also very near the port, and the beaches are further on. My only downside was that the service in the breakfast room was a little chaotic and very badly managed. It takes ages to get a meal or a coffee to the table. Staff appeared to be untrained in hospitality skills. Even so I would not let this deter me to stay there again.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally quiet and relaxing.

The location is great, a little bit far from the La Ramblas, but only for a 3 minutes walk to be in the middle of the City.
The streets and the buildings next to the hotel is very old and a little bit dirty.
The style of the lobby is great and the staff at the front desk very kind.
We stayed in an other building, connected to the main hotel building.
The room was clean, big enough and had a nice big terrace.

Room Tip: Room 751 have a great and big roof top terrace, with great view over BCN

Had a great time at this hotel overall. The kitchenette was a great feature and helped us save a little money eating in. Room a bit small for American standards but typical of Europe. A few minor issues with the cleanliness of the sheets. Stains were found on them before we slept in them but we left a note for the maid and she changed them. Great location! Right next to a metro stop... Helped us get very easily around the city. Not right on the Ramblas so it was nice and quite. The best Sangria we found over our entire trip was at the very cute hotel bar (we tried like 15). Would definitely go back.

We hade four nights in a room with a small fold-out kitchen, balcony, bathtub and a king size bed. It was perfect for our stay there since we some days brought home our own tapas from the market and prepped it in the kitchen, then ate on the balcony.
The lobby and hotel in all is very nicely decorated ind a retro style and is very cool. The staff is helpful; Within the first 10 minutes, we were there, we were given maps of the city, directions to some of the must-see's, told about their own guided tour through some of the not so touristy places done by Quartersbcn (very recommendable), asked if we needed anything else and helped to find our room.
The location of the hotel is perfect!! It's drawn back from the Ramblas as well as the nightlife which is right around the corner, but it's still right on top of it all! 10 minutes walk to the peer and a little longer for the beach, but it's a very nice beach!
As to the breakfast (not brunch) it was alright except for the many flies around some of it. They generally don't have the same standard of breakfast as we do in DK, but they did a pretty good job. ;)

Room Tip: The balcony is really worth the extra cash!

We only stayed one night before moving to a more expensive and a lot worse hotel. Room was awesome with a small kitchenette, bar fridge, king size bed, large bathroom and a huge balcony. Very helpful staff and a locked luggage room if you need to leave your bags. Extremely clean and in a very convenient location right at the end of Ramblas and out front of a metro station. Plenty of taxis pass by at all hours if you need one. Will definately stay here again if we come back to Barcelona. Nice and quiet as it is just off the main strip
