An older hotel is an excellent location. Friendly staff with all the upgrades. I would definately stay there again. Average breakfast but adequate. Scrambled eggs didn't look like they ever saw a chicken!

We reserved a deluxe room at the Granvia. In the preferences box we specified a quiet, spacious room with a tub/shower. The reviews generally had mentioned the large rooms at this hotel. However, our deluxe room was one of the smallest rooms we've had in years of travel in Europe. We had to take turns getting dressed; there was not enough room for 2 people to move around. The other person had to scrunch up on the bed until it was their turn. Likewise the bathroom was very tight. In my experience only that airplane bathroom in an inexpensive hotel in Athens was smaller. Now I know you can't expect to get all your preferences but still it was a deluxe room.

This hotel had a room with 2 computers but no printer. If you wanted to print your tickets to, say, the Sagrada Familia, you had to email the tickets to the hotel and ask them to print them. (There are lots of sites in Barcelona for which it is recommended getting tickets ahead of time on the Internet.) Sometimes there were technical difficulties and the staff wasn't computer-knowledgeable.

Otherwise the hotel was very pleasant: nice public rooms especially the back terrazza, very good location, pretty good breakfast.

Room Tip: Try communicating with the hotel directly. We booked via their website.

The hotel is situated very centrally and just off Plaza de Catalunya. The rooms are well designed and a good size overall Some sound proofing is needed as one of our rooms was at the front of the hotel on the main road and you could hear the traffic throughout the night. Our second room was for one person and was well proportioned with everything you need.

The terrace area is lovely, although the bar/food service wasn't great and was patchy. You have to press a pager for service and wait until someone appears to take your order. However they only took the order from the person who paged and didn't check if anyone else needed anything before disappearing.

The reception staff were faultless, providing friendly and helpful service and they spoke excellent English.

We would return but ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back

This is an exceptionally beautiful hotel near Plaza de Catalunya - a clean and contemporary update of a former mansion. There is a large dining room/living room, with a terrace, and an adjoining business center/library, with four computers, books, and leather couches and chairs. The hotel room for two was larger than any I've seen outside of a suite. Complimentary tea/coffee time every afternoon, and a large breakfast buffet every morning make this a hotel to return to.

We wanted a hotel that had a central location and ability to hop on the metro. This hotel was what we were looking for. It was also easy to get to the airport with bus/metro combination. We booked a "regular" room, but were upgraded to a junior suite! What a fabulous room! We did not see the regular room, but after staying at this room, I would definitely pay for the upgrade. Our Junior suite was on the first floor (second floor US) and it was huge for hotel standards, with 12ft ceilings, four poster bed, sitting area that has couch and a chair. Bathroom was decent size and very clean. One perk was that the mirrors were heated, so no foggy mirrors after the shower. There was a good size safe, so we could put our laptops. The bed was really comfortable with decent pillows. Free WiFi worked great with no issues. There was a really nice carved concrete balcony that overlooked the street. No room for table and chairs, but good enough to just stand and just relax for a few minutes. The room is well insulated, so noise from the street was not a problem. The entrance to the room itself is separated with an extra hallway and a door, which also blocks off noises from the hotel lobby and hallway. There is one more room entrance (the room across) and that can sometimes be a problem if your neighbor has loud kids (in our case) who slam the door over and over again, or the cleaning lady doesn't care to hold the door so it slams. But, the reality is that you are not going to find a hotel that does not have a single noise factored in, so all in all this was fine.

One great bonus is the back of the hotel where they have a little sitting area and serve cookies, coffee and tea in the afternoon. What a nice bonus to come to after a long day of walking around the city. Since we stayed at this hotel last year, and I didn't get a chance to write a review until now, I just noticed that they are opening the terrace to the public!!! I think this is a really bad idea. I'm sure they want to make more money, but in my opinion, this is going to destroy the very idea of the tranquil place for the hotel guests and make a loud, crowded place That's just my opinion for the hotel management.

The hotel staff was very helpful, polite and professional. They helped us out with suggestions and reservations.

The neighborhood is very safe and we walked all around without any problem.

Stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Location is perfect with a 3-5 mins from Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla. The entrance to the metro is just to the left of the hotel and has access to all the lines you need to get around the city which is great. The hotel is lovely and clean and we got an unexpected upgrade which is always good. We didn't eat here but the breakfast looked like a traditional continental. Only complaint I would have is that I needed an iron and ironing board which they don't provide but they do provide a laundry service (which you have to pay for) When I come back to Barcelona I will definitely stay here again. Thanks to Eduard too for being very helpful and friendly with our enquiries.

This hotel is beautiful and the front desk staff is warm and accommodating. We arrived early after our cruise and they did everything possible to get us a room prior to the check-in time of 3 pm. In fact we were unpacking in our room by 12:15. They are great tapa restaurants nearby, with Estella beer....I don't even like beer but loved this!! Short walk to Las Ramblas, which is shoulder to shoulder people....pickpocket heaven. We would HIGHLY recommend this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: We booked from home (United States) for a room with a bacony, which turned out to be more like a sma...
