Laumon hotel is a strange mix of very good and very modern mixed everywhere with very bad and very cramped.
Naturally, the three stars in the middle of a big European city, at prices that they require anyone can say it's normal and natural to not be completely appreciated but, candidly, I do not understand laudatory comments below. The objective is still the main point, right?
We may have had bad luck. Perhaps others have had luck. But comments should respect the reality of every situation.
I'll start with what seemed to both of us good and appreciated properly
From the airport quickly, easy to find and easy to get to the hotel. Or by taxi (25 -30 minutes depending on traffic) at a price around 25-30 euros (extra charge luggage but if there are not many would be 30 euros maximum). Either by direct bus from the airport to Plaça de Catalunya and from there by subway, either directly by metro: your station is Sagrera to no more than 5-600 meters from the hotel, about 4-5 minutes walk
Location is very good! Pretty close to a main street and the center of Barcelona's main attractions. It can go anywhere you want very easily and quickly with metro. Also, the area around the hotel is quiet and safe. The hotel is located on a pedestrian area away from traffic noise and at night you can relax and sleep properly in silence.
The exterior looks very clean, modern, neat and tidy and we was really impressed by how well they integrate the building into the street and whole area architecture. So far, so good

We were guests of the hotel Laumon between May 3 to 9 2012
We booked online a room for two adults but on arrival we were offered a twin room so small you really could not fit two people with two suitcases. Nearly there was no room to pass between one wall and the bed. Lady on reception was very kind and nice and managed to move us to room 502 on the 5th floor
We advise someone to choose this room? Hard to say but easy individual choice especially if you know what you want in advance.
If you like to go out on the terrace, drinking coffee in the fresh air, feel the pulse of the city at night or early morning or you are a smoker, the room is everything you could want. Has an enormous terrace, almost half the size of the room and get what you want at no extra cost.
You are the type who likes peace, sleeps difficult if noise around ? Stay as far as away from room 502 and 501. There are actually two steps away from the elevator and especially at night when it is quiet you will enjoy intense feeling that elevator go up or down from directly under your pillow.
Actually considering the organization of hotel rooms at each floor there are two or three rooms too close to the elevator and we assume that sounds and feels just as annoying as in 502
We have already said that we are talking a very small rooms hotel. The walls too thin the elevator noise or from guests from other rooms move freely throughout the hotel. Beds are also the minimum size and should be taken into account if you are not young and athletic anymore but you want a reservation at this hotel. King size bed in room 502 was 1.35 m wide.
Once said these things, we ended with unpleasant and disturbing issues. And just because we want to be and remain objective will continue to say that details which at first thought to damage our holiday was superb offset by staff behavior.
Everyone, starting with those at the reception and ending with domestic workers on each floor have shown behavior so friendly, helpful that simply can not leave angry or unhappy hotel Laumon
Cleaning is done daily (at least it did to us) and is exemplary, beyond any negative comment or complaint which. Young people on reception are ready at any moment to smile, give you an advice, a suggestions or to answer any questions and especially they put soul into everything they do to satisfy customers. In our case at least, there was not a single case that we encounter a "I do not know" ... "I Can not". And we must recognize that this is a very big issue for someone in a foreign country or city. You feel great when you see that you are offered a smile and any time a help or a suggestion.
We said thank you when we left and again say thank you here and now as they, Catalans who work there, managed to bring honor to the hotel and entire Barcelona by making a high quality job.
Hotelul a avut si bune si rele. Oamenii au fost minunati in schimb. In total noi am plecat cu o impresie extraordinar de placuta atat despre hotel cat si despre intregul oras.
The hotel had good and bad. People have been wonderful in return. In total we were left with an impression so incredibly nice about the hotel and on the whole city.
For accommodation you get what you pay for. Maybe a little less than expected. For the way you are treated, certainly get much more than you expected or you could pay.
So that's more than a good deal considering the prices from our point of view
We concluded by saying that management should consider that they have clients worldwide and it's no good for business nor fair to the customer as long as ALL TV programs are exclusively in spanish language, 24 hours per day.
Also the wardrobes are much too small for 2 people in double rooms if guests come for a week or more
Do not rely too much on the hotel photo presentation on its website
Stay away from the rooms next to elevator if you do have issues with noises
