“Great family size accommodation!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

We were 2 adults and 3 kids and we received two huge interconnecting rooms one with a lounge area! Air con brilliant as it was v hot outside! Beds comfy! Kids slept well. Rooms very clean. mini bar in each room. Great location! Staff helpful. Wifi only in reception. Didn't try food apart from breakfast which had a good selection. Only downside was no pool to cool off after a days sightseeing but can't mark hotel down for that as we knew that on booking!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

I was in Barcelona for two days, got room number 501 , very nice spacious room (I think I was upgraded to a suite as they ran out of rooms)
I had a double bed, that was actually two single beds combined, that for some reason kept splitting apart, I was alone so did not mind, but my wife would not have liked that if she were with me.
Location is great !, close to La-Ramblas and all major attractions in Barcelona.
So, Room was great , but the poor WIFI signal ruined this business trip for me, as I depend on it heavily.
Many of my colleagues complained on the same issues with WIFI.
WIFI speed very slow, I had to pay extra 10 EU a day to get faster internet (Available in reception), which brought my internet from 120 KBPS to around 300 KBPS , still not enough to send some heavy emails (I was trying to transfer a 10 MB file to my work colleagues, no luck!)

Did not like the fact that room key is chained to a heavy metal piece , intended so you will leave your keys in reception, I like to take my room key with me..

Reception staff were nice and helpful, hotel seemed very well maintained.
Some other colleagues complained on small rooms, but this was not my case, room 501 was AMAZING.

Room Tip: Room 501 was Amazing , recommended!

Three nights at this centrally located hotel 100 yds from Catalunya Square, and Ramblas. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and sights. On arrival we were greeted with iced water, and were upgraded to a suite. Check in reception staff were extremely efficient. The upgrade was a very pleasant surprise. Would recommend anyone visiting the city to stay here.

We stayed at this hotel one day prior and one day after our cruise. On both occasions our room was ready when we arrived. Which was shocking upon arrival after our cruise because it was only 8 am, so we were very grateful of this. This hotel is close to everything! Walk to La Ramblas, and Gaudi buildings, shopping and dining. The hotel has old world charm, and the front desk is extremely professional. I would definitely come here again, or recommend to family and friends.

The hotel is very well located for a city visit with many sights being in easy walking distance. There is a metro station (Passeig de Gracia) within 50m of the front door.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. A very effective airconditioning system.
The hotel is clean and comfortable.
The airport train stops at Passeig de Gracia but the station serves a number of lines and there is a long underground passage linking the train to the exit opposite the hotel with several short flights of steps making it more awkward if travelling with luggage. The alternative is a walk of about 5-600m on the surface. While the train is a very cheap option particularly with a T-10 ticket, it only runs every 30 minutes. The airport bus is only 5 minutes away and more frequent but costlier.
We didn't eat at the hotel but instead had breakfact at a very acceptable cafe/bar 2 doors away.

I would be happy to stay here again.

Firstly, although i'd booked booking a double room at check-in we were immediately upgraded to a suite. Which was nice. But this upgrade or suite doesn't really impact the review at all.

The Avenida Palace is a lovely place to stay, and it's all down to the little details. Such as the provision of iced lemon water by reception as you walk in. Or the "bell boy" carrying our luggage (no luggage cart, and he didn't have to) and showing us around the suite. The hotel lobby greets you with older style marble, glass and polished brass to give a warm, luxurious feeling. The keys are older style, large, metal affairs that add to the character of the hotel (the reception manager took time to apologize profusely for the small piece of cellotape used to affix the room number: "the regular room key is unavailable"). The staff are welcoming, efficient and courteous, and we felt like long-standing, valued guests even though we'd never stayed at any Husa hotel before. If you're here looking for a standard business hotel then you're in the wrong place. The hotel is easy to find and extremely practical for a stay in the centre. Everything is close by, from attractions to transport links and restaurants.
The room was of good quality, clean and well furnished. The suite on the 5th floor had a queen sized bed and windows that opened onto the gran via below with a nice (but not spectacular) view at night-time. The only thing missing was tea/coffee facilities in room.
Breakfast was great, and very fairly priced for a good quality hotel in the centre of Barcelona. Lots of choice in the hot and cold buffet. Although we had to ask for tea/coffee.

We've already decided that the next time we come to Barcelona, we're going to stay here....
