“Breakfast sorted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Good breakfast cafe. 2 bacon baguettes and hot drinks for less than 10 euros. nice place to sit and admire their lovely cakes and watch the locals.
they also have a small takeaway bakery on the opposite side of the road which is ideal for a nice sandwich etc.
i would highly recommend.

“Bakery chain, no place to have dinner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

The Forns del Pi bakery chain is located in the whole centre of Barcelona.
I don't like chains in general, so this isn't going to be too flattering:
We went there in the evening - we where hungry and stumbled down the Rambla. Finally we ended up in the Forns del Pi. A big sign said, they'd sell sangria with paella with seafood for 13 Euro, which is not pricy, but nor cheap.
First they told us, they only had one paella left, so we had albondigas de carne con patatas (meat dumplings and potatoes) and one paella. The dumplings were good (6 Euro), the sangria was ok, but the paella was, frankly, bad. I guess they prepared it at noon and heated in in their microwave. The seafood were just two pieces of sepia and two prawns. All pretty tough.
Ok, let's give them a chance:
Firstly, they gave us a piece of cake for free! But I think they saw our disappointed looks. But, ok. It was late (but they eat late in spain) and they are a bakery chain. The pastry looks great - we didn't have any. But I guess there are plenty of better, more original bakeries, and of course better restaurants in the city.

“Great for breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Don't be surprised to see many people inside in the morning -- this place is really great for breakfast. They offer a lot of pastry and sandwiches for very reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and it usually takes only a minute or two till your order is on the table. We really liked this place and highly recommend it.

“Great Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We had a wonderful plate of Paella and a jug of Sangria which was very reasonably priced. The coffee and pastries are wonderful and again great value. We were sorry we found this place at end of our holiday but will definitely return when we are next in Barcelona.

“Our favorite morning cafe in Barcelona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012 via mobile

We were in Barcelona 4 years ago and came here every day for breakfast (chocolate croissant & cafe con leche) because the pastry was so good. After two days the staff recognized us and knew our "usual." I guess we are creatures of habit.

On our return visit, we stopped again and were equally impressed. The same staff is still here and on our second day she remembered our order. The service is prompt and friendly. Check it out if you're in the neighborhood.
