Extraordinary friendly, knowledgeable and multi-lingual staff. Immaculately clean and comfortable with a fabulous patio to sit under the sun awnings and catch the breeze after a day of walking the city. Minutes walk from the Barri Gothic and Sagrada Familia. Just walk south down down Gironda and find the Plaza Sant Pedro and you'll probably never get so lost you can't find your way home. A dodest breakfast and coffee on all day. This is a place I would recommed without reservation to my twwnty-something kids and my fifty- or sixty-something friends.

I reserved the studio flat but when we got there we were pleasantly surprised by a spotless clean, spacious, beautifully decorated and fully equipped apartment in a historical building. Its peaceful yet central and easy to get to the main attractions. The couple that owns the place are very knowlegeable and extremelly helpful, kindly taking the time to give you valuable tips! I went there in May this year for a few days and my only regret is that I didnt stay longer.

Room Tip: Pay a little bit more and go for the Studio flat.

It is more like a hotel than hostel, therefore not as good as an atmosphere for socializing but perfect for when you're tired. Peacful, spacious place to stay. We got a free upgrade due to cancellation. Staff are always available and perfect for couples! Free mini breakfast too which is useful. No bar, though. Close to shops etc. Noisy if you have a balcony as there is alot of traffic. Powerful fan is provided instead of useless aircon, which we found much more comfortable. Overall, very happy and would recommend.

Room Tip: All are private which is unique in hostels nowadays.

I've beento Violetahostel just for 1 night but I wanted to stay more!
Mariana (ocean eye & sunshining smile), portuguese girl at the desk, was so kind and helpfull with a friend of mine and me!!
I have a single room (my friend, that has no booking, thanks to Mariana found a room in another place) perfect for my porpouse. Bathroom in common was clean and confortable.
A unique hardship: in the middle of the night 2 guests arrived and since my room was close to the desk the sound of their voice woke me up because of the thin wall of the room (remember that's a hostel not an hotel).
Last but not least it's near metro and in 7 minutes you're in the center of the city!!

I'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to the staff at Violeta Hostel (especially the lady on reception) for their tireless help when there was an error with my reservation this week. The error was my own, but the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help us find a suitable alternative. I'll definitely be staying here on my next visit to Barcelona. Thank you!

Overall Impressions: Not what you would expect in a hostal. No party crowd. Perfect for any age group that appreciates nice, peaceful surroundings. Very clean and neat. Excellent location in Dretade L'Eixample off Gran Via and c/Casp. Easy walk from Aerobus. Wonderful accommodations. Lovely patio with furniture on main floor for all to enjoy. Many shops, cafes, three blocks from P/de Gracia and Hop On Hop Off Bus.
Room: It was listed as a Studio, but was far more than that. Full kitchen that was nicely appointed, two sparkling clean bathrooms, walk-in closet, large bedroom/living room (comfy beds) and glass doors to a private porch with table and chairs. It was renovated, but the owner retained the architectural details. Beautiful original Spanish tile floors throughout. We loved having our own apartment in Barcelona :-) Coffee, water, cava, milk, sugar and breakfast items were all provided. The coffee in Spain has spoiled me forever !
Service: Excellent. Very helpful. Quick response to all emails.
Additional Information: Did see a room on the main floor that looked lovely and had doors that opened to large, shared patio. Just a note about the shared bathrooms and WC -- they are spotless also. Loved Violeta Hostal. Never felt unsafe.

Very nice couple running the place. Lovely courtyard. Everything was so clean, including the shared bathrooms which can be gross in hostels. Our room was rather noisy because it was next to the elevator shaft but the staff assured me they will soon be installing sound-proof windows which will help a lot.
I loved the tranquil atmosphere.
Nice location just a few minutes from all the action.
Wifi worked well in the common area. Connection from room was weak.
Would definitely stay here again.
