Be very cautious when taking Bus 24 to Guell Park. We just took our Parents to the park on this bus and we had a serious encounter we a team of 5 pickpockets in the crowded bus. The driver locked the doors and called the police once someone discovered this group. The guys were trying to hit the emergency open button on the door and eventually just busted the door open.

I was talking to the driver after everything and he said Bus 24 has the highest amount of pickpockets as its the one that goes closest to Guell Park and is usually very crowded.

I would still take the bus to the Park just be aware of your personal items and you won't be a target.

Although a bit of a hike from the closest metro stop (Lesseps), this is a must on a tour of Guadi’s works, but well worth it. There are two houses (one which very much resembles a gingerbread house), the steps, the famous lizard, an impressive columned pavilion, and an open area above the columned pavilion with a winding mosaic bench. It’s really fun to look at all the different tiles used and the designs the artists made with them, etc. It is also interesting to see the combination of new and fun modern design with the more traditional columns. Also check out the long helicoids path on your way up or down to the columned pavilion. Great place for kids to run around or to just sit and relax. As it is usually very crowded though, make sure to always be on the lookout for pickpockets.

I enjoyed the morning we spent at the Parc Guell greatly, it is a wonderful work of art, a good view point and a nice walk through what must be an authentic Spanish garden (especially if your trip to Spain is only in Barcelona.) It is free, which is nice, but at the entrance it gets very busy, so taking a photo with the famous lizard is quite difficult. However, as soon as you leave the main entrance and central terrace, the crowd thins out and you can take a nice walk under some of the stony arches inside the park. The view is also great from the very top of the park.

We loved this place. We spent the whole afternoon wandering around the little pathways, up and down, looking at Gaudi's unique works of art. You can certainly loose track of time in this place, it's a good size and there is lots to see. There are 2 cafe's too so plenty of opportunities for refreshments especially if it's a hot day like it was when we visited. There is also a souvenir shop in one of the gatehouses. Wild parrots were flying between the trees and butterflies the size of saucers too. If we went back to Barcelona we'd definitely spend time here again.

“Better than Sagrada Familia!”

Park Guell is one of the highlights of any trip to Barcelona and provides a cheaper, more satisfying alternative than visiting the other Gaudi landmark; Sagrada Familia.

Getting there can be a bit of a pain but if you have bought one of the pre-paid metro cards (available at the tourist information in the airport amongst other places) then you can use it on the bus to take you up to the park. Its pretty easy to see where you get off and we even had a friendly local who was kind enough to point it out to us!

The park itself is fantastic; as one user commented it is just like candyland! The houses are straight out of a Brothers Grimm tale and a casual walk round will find exciting new structures at every turn!

The gift shop sells the usual tourist merchandise but the fact that it is in one of said fantasy house makes it worth a look round. The cafe is actually not too badly priced and seeing as admission to the park is free then its well worth having a wee 'Cerveza' or spot of lunch.

Probably the best way to enjoy it though is to take you own picnic and find a private spot of Gaudi's playground to savour; something which is nigh on impossible at Sagrada Familia!
