We did NOT go inside. The throngs of people and the evidence of construction (we could see from the outside scaffolding on the inside) deterred us. However, let me recommend at least taking the time to stroll around the outside. We had a guide, but a guide book detailing what is going on would work just as well. The contrast of the different sides of the church are nothing short of amazing. The Gaudi side is really remarkable; hard to imagine how he got the "ok" to proceed, almost, as it is so far removed from any church facade I've ever seen! My pictures of the roof look like a Christmas tree and gumdrops! No way to explain it, you need to see it!
