Owner description: The Museu Picasso in Barcelona is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the 4,251 works that make up the permanent collection. Furthermore, the Museu Picasso, opened in 1963, also reveals his deep relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death. The Museum is very rich in regard to work from the formative years in the life of the artist; it is practically exhaustive up to the Blue Period. The Museum also houses an important representation of works from 1917, and the series Las Meninas (1957) as well as a comprehensive print collection.

“Worth the wait in line”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

This was definitely the most popular attraction outside of Barcelona FC. We waited about an hour to get inside, but once we did we were blown away by the early works of Picasso. This is definitely a must for anyone that enjoys art. A legend in himself, the museum covers everything from Picasso's work as child until his later years. A must for almost anyone visiting Barcelona.

“Fascinating and interesting.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Fantastic collection of Picasso's work from his early days forward. Arranged chronically, so you can see how he developed as an artist. Had our two young kids with us and our 6 year old was especially taken with the paintings. The museum has a lift, just ask the staff if you have a toddler in a push chair as we did.

Enjoyed our visit a lot.

“Great experience of early Picassos!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

This a comprehensive exhibition of Piacasso's early works, based partly on his time as a young artist in Barcelona, when his paintings were traditional ion style. There is then evidence of a slow move away from this, as his work progresses. The exhibition includes also some of the later Picasso works, from the 1950s onwards, plus a large exhibition - until 1 April 2013 - of ceramics by Jacqueline Picasso.

“Catch a glimpse of brilliance.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

It was a privilege to admire the works of a master; my 15 year old son also thought it was "pretty cool".

“Not our favorite”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

We went on the first Sunday of the month which is always free. We would recommend getting there at 9:45 to avoid the terribly long line. Unfortunately, when we went 2/3 of the museum was closed off so we could only see his early work and pottery. I love and respect Picasso as a painter but his pottery was awful. I was surprised that such a widely recognized artist could produce such terrible work. Overall, it was a nice exhibit to see but we were it was free because so much of it was closed off.
