“Great food (veggie too) near Sants train station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

We have lived in BCN for 30 years and found this place by accident. It is on Calle Vallespir, just a short walk from Sants train station. There are lots of ethnical restaurants in this area, but this place is run by Ethiopians and their culinary offer was amazing. It is small and cosy with friendly staff and very different from anything I have experienced in this city. There are no "tables" and no knives and forks.... So your food is delivered on a huge round tray, with a type of corn bread dripping over the edges... Wash your hands because you are going to eat with your fingers and share this tray with your partner!!! Amazing tastes, amazing experience to share food and if you want it to be simply vegetarian, their offer is super from simple to spicy.
The price is great too, 12€ per person - we had the "menu degustacion" TWICE!!!, with 2 beers each, dessert and coffee - far too much food :-). Take my advice and pop in if you are in the area.

“I loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

I really like Ethiopian food, and between the two Ethiopian restaurants in Barcelona, I prefer this one, I just like the food a bit better. The place is cute and the owners are friendly, although occasionally a bit overzealous (if I have told you the first time that everything was really nice, I'll probably won't change my line although you ask two times more ...)
I don't have any complaints, although people really have to know what they are getting into:
Folks, you're going to a restaurant with low wooden stools and you will eat with your hands, so be prepared!

“Dinner in real Ethiopian style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Some reviews on Tripadvisor made us curious about this restaurant when we looked for a nice place to it in the neighbourhood of the bar we were having a drink. The restaurant doesn't have tables and chairs, but typical Ethiopian "hats" for tables and benches and hand-crafted wooden stool to sit on. The menu is simple (only 4 combinations) and makes sure you get a good selection of all the food they serve. The food comes really quick and is served in little piles on a big pancake. You eat with your hands! For this reason there's a sink in the back.
Go here for a rather quick meal if you'd prefer something else than the usual Western food. Because of the traditional furniture this restaurant doesn't seem suitable for elderly people or people having back problems.

“Ethiopian food in barcelona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013 via mobile

If you want to have a first introdution to ethiopian food, that's the place. They use mediterranian ingredients, and the mix with ethiopian cusuine it's fantastic. Best part the restaurant itself, the atmospheremis so cozy, it's small but you can find locals & ethiopians all. Mixed.

Just for a different night out

“Amazing food in an "unamazing" location!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Have had Ethiopian food in the US which was alright but the Ethiopian food here was more than amazing. It was satisfying even to my 3 year old son who is a VERY picky eater. It was my husbands birthday and the owner Abraham came and sat with us for nice conversation and also treated us to a couple special dishes. It was a very welcoming and homely atmosphere and I would love to visit again!! We arrived at about 9:30pm (21:30) and the street was very deserted which made me think we were in the wrong area but there was this gem, hidden in the darkness! Abraham was so helpful in showing us how to get back to the train L3 - he even came out onto the street and showed us. Amazing food - excellent hospitality. A must try for those of you in Barcelona who want food with some flavor. Treat your palate to some excitement.
