“Good hotel but useless WiFi”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

We stayed here for 7 nights in room 26 on the second floor. The location is not bad, just two blocks away from the wonderful Sagrada Familia and with good Subway connection to the city center. The rooms are small but functional and very clean. The beds are OK and we had a good sleep most nights. Some traffic noise could be heard which could be a problem for the light sleeper. There was no breakfast, but there are several good places for breakfast in the surroundings. The hotel offers free coffee of very good quality in the lobby.

And now the negative point:
When we select hotels, a good WiFi connection in the room is absolutely essential. The WiFi at Hostemplo was out of order most of the time and the staff did not care very much to solve the problem.

The rating "2" is based on the fact that we payed for WiFI but we didn't get WiFi. Apart from the non-existing WiFi, we consider the hotel good value for money (rating "4").

We recommend Hostemplo for people who do not need WiFi. If you need WiFi, stay somewhere else.

Hello, I'm glad you had a pleasant stay in Hostemplo.
I understand that the wifi is very important for you and for many people. Indeed when you stay in Hostemplo, the wifi worked not very well. The reason is that we in this period was changing telephone company and the adjustments were not very fast. Now the settings are made so the wifi works perfectly. We apologize for 3 - 4 days when not working correctly.
Thank you very much for your comments and I hope I have helped clarify the issue

The hostal is located very close the Familia Sagrada but pretty far from the other main parts of the city. It's about a 20 minute walk or a short metro ride. Wish we stayed closer to town. When we arrived in the middle of the day, the door wouldn't open and the bell didn't work. We had to stand there for several minutes before they opened the door for us. The desk person was helpful. The room was very modern but felt strange with very small, very high windows that faced directly onto a busy intersection. The room was nicely decorated, but very dark and noisy. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The hostal was nice on the inside, but the experience overall was just "ok".

Even staying in the ground floor, we do not had problems neither with reception nor street noises. The room is very well decorated, new and clean. The bathroom is very nice also. It's located near the Sagrada Familia (10 min walking), with lots of shops, restaurants and metro station. Besidestelling in the site that there is a breakfast, it is limited to coffee and chips.

Whilst it is not in the heart of Barcelona this hotel is round the corner from Sagrada Familia and near the railway staion. It is beautifully maintained, clean and functional. We were surprised by the large size of our room considering this was the budget accommodation. Downside was the lack of quality restaurants in the local area and staff did not make any recommendations. Rooms were quiet and sleep came easy - just what you want after an exhausting sight seeing day.

We had requested 3 singles but on arrival on the 7th October, we had a double and a twin. The woman on reception phoned the boss and they arranged an extra bed straight away from another hotel as all of the rooms were full. When I called back to the room to collect something, the receptionist called me over and gave me an envelope with Euros in it as compensation, even though we never requested it. That's what I call great customer service, and I highly recommend them just on that basis alone.

My boyfriend and I booked Hostemplo for a 6 night stay. The rooms were modern, and very clean. The housekeeping staff mopped the hardwood floors daily, and the room was generally spotless.

We found that the thick windows did a superb job of keeping noise out, though it may have been less noisy since we were on the second floor.

We had a great time. It's about a 5 min walk to the Sagrada Familia and access to the Metro line.

Only down point was that the air conditioner in our room died on the last night.

Room Tip: Request to have a better room with a view, and a balcony via e-mail ahead of time.

The hotel is very modern, the decoration is beautiful.

The room was good, the bed was excellent. The windows had acustic isolation, making the room really quiet. Air conditioning, so necessary for the heat at the time.
The bathroom was super modern, the shower was great.

The staff was almost all very good, except for one woman, that for me was not very friendly or helpfull.

The location was very good, only one block alway from Sagrada Familia and subway.

No breakfast availible. Wifi free.
