“Comfortable, but disappointed with the kitchen.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Our stay here was fine. We booked a studio superior and so were able to enjoy the extra space - although the bathroom was still impossibly small. Good to have the extra space, and we were expecting to be able to use the kitchen facilities, but this was not really practical since the kitchen was so poorly equipped. Yes, there was an efficient fridge, a two ringed hob and microwave but the utensils provided were absolutely minimal we would have had to go and buy some stuff if we wanted to cook. For example, no coffee making facilities, no cork screw, no knife for cutting, no cutting board, and no cloths to wipe up and keep the place clean - although you are told that this is expected of you. So, we ate out all the time.

Location, as many have said, was very convenient for public transport and all the main attractions were within easy reach. The area itself may be 'up and coming' but is currently little more than an industrial estate on the side of a main road. It seemed safe enough.

With the windows open there was quite a lot of noise from the street at 3rd floor level and cigarette smoke coming into our room for the unavoidable threshold smokers that now exist all over the world. With windows shut the sound proofing was good and no problem with smoke - but then I like to have an open window!

Seemed mainly for young people - which we are not - but that wasn't a problem. Nice to have a pool and roof space to sit and enjoy.

Staff, very pleasant and helpful.

Our stay here was comfortable but for the price we paid we could have booked a 'real' apartment with a 'real' kitchen.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor - although we did ask and were not given this.

we spent 5 nights in melon district hotel, when we were about to reserve it i was afraid alittle becauase it seems to be a studients residance but when i got there i really empressed it was very organised, very clean, very good for value. the staff there are amazing and very helpful.
the room was air conditioned and its very importatnt in barcelona in august :)
the hoel was very near from the metro station and the tram.. the glorie mall was about 7 mis walking ( a very nice place for breakfast and shopping) from the roof u can see la sagrada familia and the torre agbar tower is noticiable from every corner
the pool was skinny but nice after a long sunny day in barcelona.
the hotel has a cafeteria equipped with anything u may need.
we had a very nice and well equiped kitchen with a very nice seating area.
the only one thing that i didn't like there is the cleaning service was not for free, u have to pay unreasonable price to get ur room clean!
of course i would stay there when i go in 2025 to see la sagrada familia when it will be finished

Well out of the places we stayed in Europe this was one of the best and Barcelona being brilliant really helped easy access to the sea front on the tram or underground to other places. Rooms where clean and pool was very nice up the top with very nice views of a large area of Barcelona.

Excellent value and easy to get to! Well-manned reception, and the staff spoke English and were very friendly. Compact room, but comfortable, clean and it felt very safe. There was a lot of storage space, a security box and the bathroom was spotless and even had complimentary toiletries. We were next to the kitchen but hardly heard any noise apart from in the late evening as the students were getting in/ getting ready to go out. When we returned late in the evening there was a security guard by the gates, which again made us feel safe. Perhaps take some earplugs if you're sensitive to noise if you're there at a weekend, especially.

The cafe downstairs is great for breakfast, and there is also a good cafe on the main street.

We arrived over an hour before our official booking started, but very friendly receptionist let us take our room, which was a major surprise and gave comfort after traveling for 12 hours. The room was small but clean and rather cozy and fresh looking. Inside we found space for our luggage as well as a security box. The kitchen/hang-around room located near our room was convinient and large, but we didn't really use it. The area isn't quite in the middle of Barcelona, but it's rather easily found near the Marina metro station. Those who decide to take a walk there from, let's say Las Ramblas, it takes about half an hour.

Overall our stay went without any problems and left us nice vibe. We can absolutely recommend this hotel to any traveling couple or group looking for budget accommodation.

We stayed over the UK August Bank Holiday. We found it very good value. The accommodation consists of student residences that can be used by visitors during the vacation. You need to use the room card to move around the complex, so it does add to security. The studio we were in was well maintained and clean. The room is only cleaned for your arrival and there is an extra charge if you want to have it cleaned during your stay. We had a comfortable double bed and there was plenty of storage space. A safe and TV were available. The bathroom had an excellent shower. It was a spacious studio, with a surprisingly well-equipped kitchenette. This included a fridge, microwave, table, decent pots and pans. What it didn’t have were some basics such as cups, utility knife, bottle opener, kettle etc. Given we were only really wanting to do snacks these items would have been more useful. There was a common room so no need to eat in the room itself,

The Marina Metro is only a few minutes walk away as are a tram and bus stops, making the city centre as well as the beach at Barcelonetta easily accessible. Be aware you are just outside the city centre but don't let this put you off staying there as there are good, very quick, transport links and the T10 travel card available at Metro stations is a sensible buy if you are staying here. There are a few shops and café’s but very little in the immediate area of note. Having said that the café on site is good and does a very reasonable menu del dia

Most others that were staying were fairly young travellers in their early twenties so it did make us feel really old! Not a real issue.

The rooftop pool area was useful to cool, off in after a days sightseeing. There were fantastic panoramic views, particularly of the Sagradia de Familia.

We would certainly stay again.
