“Charming, inexpensive, great quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We stumbled across this place, we were the second customers for the evening and the place quickly filled. There should be a line-up for this place every night. The quality of food was exquisite. The service was friendly and if we were here one more night, we'd definitely return to sample the dishes we simply could not fit in. Great prices for good wines that are paired with the dishes. A secret gem, for anyone looking for an off the tourist trail dining experience

“Great Restaurant, good food, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

This is a very small restaurant. Seats about 25, but if you can snag a table, it has great service and great food. Lots of menu options, great wine selection, food is very good. Down just off the Rambles area on a back street, so its a little hard to find.

“Nice surprise ”

Creative food. Everything was excellent, specially the combined foe first course. Cava for 11 euro was excellent. Entrecote was small. Service was slow. Very good food at low price.

“So glad we had Trip-advisor.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I have to admit we would have walked past this place without giving it a second glance.
However we were staying close by and we had Trip-advisor to assist us, we decided to give it a go.
When we first entered it was empty and we began to think that perhaps we had made a mistake. We need not have worried, soon the place was filling with locals (there was no one outside trying to entice visitors to Barcelona in)
We asked for advise with regard to wine choices and we were rewarded with an excellent local red, so good we purchased a bottle to bring home.
The food we experienced was excellent, especially the goats cheese starter and the asparagus salad. The veal main course was also excellent.
If you are put off by the somewhat bland exterior, don't be, this place is definitely worth a visit when in Barcelona.
Thank you Trip-advisor!!

“Charming & very Spanish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

Onofre doesn't even look like a restaurant from the outside, the small number of tables being tucked away at the back, out of view from the narrow gothic alley the restaurant is situated in. The premises look more like a wine merchant /delicatessen from the street.
The restaurant appears to be run by a husband and wife team with him cooking and her waiting. They are both friendly and polite. The menu is a little confusing, not following the standard starter, main, dessert format. Some of the items might be best shared, tapas style. I had veal as a main and it was lovely ; my wife and friends also really enjoyed their choice too.
This is a little gem of a restaurant, authentically Spanish and absolutely charming. I can't recommend it highly enough.
