“Nice location, good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I have picked this hotel because of its location right across CCIB. It appeared Forum district itself was nice and modern with little parks, lots of restaurants, big shopping mall right next to the hotel.
Metro station is very close, takes approx. 15 minutes to get to the city center.
Nice room, comfortable bed, wi-fi in the room was free and quite fast (slower in the evenings though).
Free minibar was a plus. I wish there were an ironing board a tea kettle though.

I enjoyed my stay there.

Room Tip: Either sea view or city view, both would be great.

Modern, clean and accessible hotel in Barcelona. A few stops on the metro and you're in the heart of Barcelona which is great as it means you get a good nights sleep away from the noise. Rooftop pool is a nice feature. Great value for money!

We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelona Princess hotel. I agree with some of the other reviews regarding the amenities . The front desk staff were polite and helpful; the staff in the bar super pleasant. We had a room on the 17th floor and enjoyed a great view of the city.
Things to be aware: One, as mentioned in previous reviews, you'll have to taxi to most points of interest as this hotel is considered to be in the new section of town. The good news is that there is a taxi stand literally around the corner from the hotel. And if you forget something, fear not as the shopping mall is directly next door. Two, there is no outlet in the bath to use a flat iron, etc. A blow dryer is hooked to the wall (direct wire) and there is one low voltage outlet for a shaver. The only mirror is in the bath. I called the front desk and explained my problem and they promptly sent a man up with an extension cord that I was able to plug into the bedroom and pull into the bath.
Our room had no thermostat issues and was nicely insulated and quiet. Overall, a very nice stay.

Thanks for your opinion; it is very nice to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us.

Added to the cap station right in the corner of the building, you have several public transports options a few minutes away from our main entrance. Metro station, tram connection and various bus lines. Also you can take the touristic bus in the street behind our hotel.

We will consider your comment for future property improvements.

Hope to see you soon again.

Best regards

Barcelona Princess is one of those hotels that are hard to review because of all kinds of contradictions. It really is a four star, european hotel that provides excellent service. However, there are a few drawbacks that cannot be overlooked. So the positive features are:

- great views of the Mediterranean Sea from the top-floor rooms. You can see the sea from your windows.

- above average breakfast for a hotel in Spain
(note that a traditional breakfast in Spain is a cop of coffee, or a glass of orange juice and a toast with jam... maybe a slice of cured meat, but don't count on it).

- friendly, professional service.

- the rooms are very clean. The bigger room in the corner of the 11th floor has a separate bathroom that includes a full bathtub), king size bed and it's own climate control that is in working condition.

Now, here are the less admirable features of the Barcelona Princess:

- the layout of at least two rooms on the 18th floor and some design decisions are very questionable. Antoni Gaudí would not understand. The bathroom is actually right in your bedroom It is literally separated by a frosted glass wall. No need to say more.

- in these rooms the shower cabins are very small, which is ok, but the floor is completely flat inside, there is no slope at all, so the water comes right out of the shower cabin and ends up on the floor causing a small flood. Even though the nightly charge for these rooms is probably less, there is no excuse for bad design.

- the climate control system did not work well. One of the rooms on 18th floor was intolerably hot. The hotel seemed to be aware, but sent a very nice mechanic, who apologized and said that the AC can't be fixed until the next day and the hotel offered to switch rooms in the middle of the night, no upgrade, which is almost a must in this case. The next room was better in terms of temperature, but still hotter than the air in the rest of the hotel. Again, uncomfortable experience.

- the restaurant is small, more of a bar type. Very limited menu, but the food is good. The breakfast is also good, but some of the plates weren't very clean.

- the last one unfortunately cannot be fixed, but it is very minor. The location is not great. The hotel sits at the beginning of Av. Diagonal near the convention center and the Museu Blau. Barcelona is not a vast city and everything is close, but this area is a couple of miles and about 15 euros (in a cab) from really nice places like the Barri Gotic, Eixample and other central areas of Barcelona.

If you are in Barcelona for a conference, or an industry event and your company is putting you in this hotel - fear not - it is really nice, comfortable and again, not too far from everywhere. But if you are on vacation, looking to explore Barcelona's fun side, you should consider other areas, unless you get a great deal.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are much better. They are totally worth of an upgrade at a reasonable cost.

Green Features: One night it smelled like burning tar on the 11th floor. The hotel staff said it was o'k.

Thanks for your comment; it is nice to hear that you liked our breakfast, views, infrastructure cleaning and conditions.
Also we are happy that our staff and service was at the high of your expectations,

Barcelona is a city with an unstable and changing climate; we do our best to keep temperature in the most appropriate level for all our guests. Please understand that sometimes certain temperature within our facilities must be self-adjusted at a general level, we can not meet the needs of every guest separately and yet we do all our efforts to satisfy them at all times.

We are an urban hotel with modern design; our building is one of the iconic architecture points of Barcelona’s skyline. We hope to have a second chance with you as we are sure that we can find a room category that fits your needs.

We have a privileged location right next to the beach and with excellent public transports connexions with the city centre such as Metro and Tram station 3 minutes walking from our main door or the cap station right in the corner.

Thanks for staying with us.

Best regards,

This hotel is a 26 floor tower located at the end of Av. Diagonal, between the city and the sea. If you have a room in the upper floors, the view is excellent, a huge glass window separates you from the sky. The environment is urban and executive, a small pool can provide you some relaxation at the end of the day. Breakfast could be better. Don't choose it if you dislike orange, but the bed is great.

I had some reservation before I booked the hotel but as it was one of the closest hotel to the Conference center eventually decided to book the place. I arrived one day late due to flight connection and delays. I informed the front desk on the matter and ask if they could talk to the manager to waive the 'no show" charge since the late arrival was a force measure. I had one of the nicest room with ocean and sea view and small balcony. First evening complimentary Champing and snacks was very welcoming. Breakfast was with variety and plenty. Location is just few minutes from Barcelona international conference center and a metro station which gives easy access to city center, about 15-20 min metro ride.Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel decor needs some refurbishing but otherwise had a pleasant stay. Even though "no show" was charged initially it was reimbursed finally. All in all very good experience.

Room Tip: fitness center is little too small for such a big hotel..top floors has better views of the sea and...

It is great that you found our Hotel as a great place to stay next to the CCIB. We agree that our room views and breakfast feature significantly.

We are happy to hear that the ¨no show¨ issue was correctly solved. We are a urban hotel with limited space and we do our best to provide free and additional facilities to our guests as the Gym, 2 pools and Relax area with Sauna.

Hope to have a second chance; we can do it much better.

Sincerelly.

I stayed for a conference across the road. My room was clean and well kept with a relatively hard mattress (thanks god!) but too low for a great view. The breakfast buffet was very rich and good quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I also liked the nearby park to go for a run. Also reaching downtown wasn't difficult at all as a metro stop is nearby. Almost forgot: free Wifi and free minibar!!

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view.
