“Our regular stop for tapas in Barcelona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

This was our third visit here for food in Barcelona, and again found it to be excellent.

After a day of sightseeing, including an early start, we were fairly hungry by the time we arrived here. Quickly showed to a table in the rear of the bar, rather than the restaurant upstairs (we ate upstairs last time, but wanted to be in the bar this time).

We ordered a selection of food - bread with tomato, chicken croquettes, stuffed peppers, meatballs, chorizo, etc with soft drinks for the kids and a couple of glasses of white wine for us.

Service was really quick, and the food was hot and tasty, as ever. Final price was almost bang on 50 Euro - which was good value for the ten (or so) plates we had.

Highly recommend this restaurant over a few of the other rip-off joints on La Rambla. Its also really handy for the Metro, as its right next to the entry to the "Place De La Catalunya" station.
Can think of no reason not to go here.

When we last visited, we ate upstairs in the restaurant. Cracking views over the busy street and as we were having a relaxing lunch, we just asked them to bring tapas for four. We did get most of our favourites (see list above) along with some things we'd never normally eat (king prawns, prawns in garlic, etc) but they were really nice. A couple of bottles of wine were consumed, along with numerous Cokes for the kids. The price came to around 120 Euro, which was pretty pricey - a bit taken aback at the time, but thinking later about how much we'd eaten over the hours we were there, as well as the drinks, it wasn't unreasonable.

Service was fantastic that time too !

“Friendly waitress that will give you a plate of €33 tapas + 10% tip”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

From the menu, we chose calamares & gambas but the waitress gave us mixed tapas instead. as far as we can remember, we ordered food that won't go beyond €10. Before she served us the mixed tapas, we asked her how much? she didn't answer so we decided to stick with calamares. When she came back, she gave us this mixed tapas that didn't taste good. Bill was €33++ for a single plate, service charge was already included in the bill. then the waitress told us that there was an additional 10% tip. We never went back there.

“Great inexpensive food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012 via mobile

Our family took us to Barcelona this summer. They constantly go there for pleasure. We saw the cerveceria on our first day and went to eat there. Tapas were extremely good and for a party of 15 the check was 200 euros. We had all kind of tapas, drinks, sodas, and desserts. I think the quality of the food was really good and the service was amazing. Don't get fooled by people that don't like to experience different cultures.

“Never let them recommend dishes without checking the menu”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

We have a party of 3 adults and 1 child and sit in the table area. The atmosphere was ok but once we walked in you can hear a waiter started using different language to say hello to you so you know it is a completely tourist restaurant and they are only doing business with tourist. The waiter was quite friendly but our biggest mistake was to accept his offer and let him bring some mixed tapas for us.

We thought it will be like a big plate with some variety of tapas but smaller portion so we can taste more, but it is not. He brought a optupus, which cost 10 euro and not very tasty. a porton of ham cost another 11 euro with only 4 slices and lots of fried prawns and fried prawns.....there was not diversity so we came to the bar and ordered some thing else. At the end we were stunned by the bill and found out the waiter just brought us all the most expensive dishes and it cost us nearly 45 euro per person for such food we would only descirbe like junk food and can only find in the night market in Asia which cost you maybe 10 euro per head. Singria was more than 5 euro per glass!!!

The food was not very nice, some dishes are just deep fried junk food and that night my wife woke up around mid night and said she was not feeling well with itches feeling. PLEASE DON'T GO to this restaurant as the way they trap the cutomers and the wait they do business are totally dishonest and they always target innosent customers.

We had our lessons, which is very sour and painful....

“Rambla's con job”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012

Five of us went here on our first night in Barcelona. After 24 hours travelling we wanted to eat somewhere close to our hotel. We checked the prices in several local tapas bars and this one seemed the most reasonable. We hadn't read any reviews! We experienced the same elderly gentleman stage act between him, us and the waiters. They didn't bring any of the items we ordered but brought us lots of the most expensive tapas on their menu! The food was OK, but certainly not anywhere near the quality that you would expect from a good tapas restaurant. Being too exhausted to argue we went along with the con. The bill came to 150 euros. Just give the place a miss.
