“Real Chinese food in Barcelona”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

It's really hard to find good Chinese food in Barcelona but this is the real deal. Run by a friendly Chinese family (pushy in a funny way), my friends and I got treated really well and overfed at their restaurant! We let them choose for us an authentic Chinese dinner and got some dishes on the house. We are definitely going back!

“Real authentic chinese/taiwanese cooking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

Visited Barcelona for 1 week, of all the chinese restaurant we been, this is the one we visited twice.

This is a family run chinese restaurant and the wife is the cook and the husband handles the front and we speaks hokkien to them.

Food was good, portions are good size, cooking is authentic. Being chinese we would eat chinese food for dinner and for lunch we would sample the local cruisine.

In fact the cooking standard is at restaurant level in taiwan. If this restaurant is opened in Kuala Lumpur, they will do a roaring business.

On first visit, we had the onion beef, taiwan garlic pork, a fish dish and the soap cooked by the restaurant which is not on the menu. It all comes up to under 60 euro for 2 adults and 2 children.

Must say the soap is good, very nice to have a non starch/glue type of soap like sweet corn chicken etc.

My kids like the taiwan pork, the special chicken in iron plate and the onion beef very much.

The taiwan garlic pork is crispy on the outside but very tender on the inside.

The beef has fused together the flavour of onion that gives it a taste of the flame (fires of the wok) within the beef. Sort of like a flambe taste without the alcohol.

The chicken is very tender and has 2 or more flavour within.

We ordered the onion beef and prawn on our second visit which was a mistake as we did not like the mix taste of prawn and beef. I believe it is best not to mix them.

The onion beef is a bit oily though but you need the oil to burn the onion to release the flavour.

Of all the chinese restaurants we tried in barcelona, this is the most authentic, will recomend this restaurant to authentic chinese food lover especially if you miss home.

“best Taiwanese/Chinese in Barcelona so far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2011

We lived in Asia for 10 years before moving to Barcelona...and have always been depressed at the lack of decent Asian food here. FINALLY, we can say that we have found one decent Chinese restaurant...Son Hao. Family-run, here for 30 years, the food is authentic, the owner friendly and slightly "mandon" (=steering you this way and that)...but in a sweet way, and his recommendations have been good both times we went. They have a menu only in Chinese that has a couple dishes not on the regular menu, though most are the same. If you are sensitive to MSG, they will point out dishes better for you. Please try!
