During the evenings Mayura features an ‘a la carte’ menu. Choose from a variety of tapas, vegetarian, main courses & tasting platters. Mayura is owned by Rajnish Kapoor and his wife Mayura Kutappa. Having spent a lot of time travelling, discovering, discussing & experimenting with food, they left New York and the internet company he was running to open a small restaurant in Ibiza, Spain. After two successful years and the birth of their son Brahm they moved to Barcelona. “Good quality food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Having tried very good Indian restaurants in London, Mumbai and Bangalore. I am usually disappointed when I have tried other Indian restaurants in other locations. However foodwise this was a nice change with all the food being of good quality and fresh. The food was not as spiced for my preference but they do provide a nice green chilli mix to up the heat to your liking. The only downside was the I had reserved a table for 6 which was only set for four. Then waited 15-20 mins before we promted the waitress for drinks. At this time 8.30 it was not busy so no apparent reason for the delay. I suggest this maybe just one waitress having a bad day because as the meal progressed the other staff were fine.
We ordered a mix of starters, mains, deserts and some wine and beer and cost was circa €25pp

“Una cena fabulosa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

On first impressions this place looks more like an ethnic lounge but with pictures from India on the walls, Bollywood playing silently on the TV and a background of jazz from the speakers. The seating was a little odd with low tables and arm chairs or wooden sofas...but it described itself as a lounge, and that's what it is.
We could only manage starter and main course. We shared the samosa and tandoori mushrooms. The samosa was actually 3 (vegetable) and a large plate of mushrooms with peppers and onions with a smokey masala flavour. Both starters were excellent. I could rave over the mushrooms for weeks. For main I had Rogan Josh and my wife had Prawn Kerala. Both dishes came with rice and a naan bread each. They go lightly on the spice so I had mine picante. To be honest it still wasn't very hot but then again it didn't need to be. It would have spoilt the excellent flavours and the wonderfully tender lamb. Rice was rice but the naan was outstandingly light, crispy and fresh. Possibly the best naan I've had anywhere. I had to finish my wife's Kerala, which meant we were both too full for desert. We finished up with a cortado to follow the Kingfisher beer.
This was an amazing evening for food. Living here in Barcelona I miss the curries of the UK, but not anymore. This is the best Indian we've had here, and better than many back in the UK.
The only grumble is the seating is too lounge-like to really enjoy a meal comfortably. If I were the owner I'd swap the armchairs for some comfy chairs and more practical tables...but we liked it all the same, and will be back...with friends. If you're a fan of Indian food, go there and be amazed.

“Good food, good service, a nice time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I am a single traveler, craving well-prepared Indian food and I was not disappointed. Even though it was Friday night and the restaurant was full, I was accommodated and order a vegetarian thali dinner and a glass of wine. The food came with four different home prepared chutneys and everything was delicious and fresh. The staff was friendly and warm and I will return to Mayura.
