“Great Hotel for a stay in Barcelona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Stayed in the Confortel Barcelona for 4 nights last week and have to say what a great deal and hotel. We arrived early and before official check in time but we let them know we had arrived and they looked after our bags while we went out to start looking around. Unfortunately whilst we were out it poured with rain and we got absolutely soaked so we returned to the hotel as we were somewhat dejected by this time but unfortunately still 2 hours before official check in. We spoke to the receptionist who saw our predicament and said she would see what they could do, and five minutes later we were given the keys for our room so we could now have a warm shower and a change of clothes, so a special thank you to Naemi, (sorry not sure on the spelling!), for helping us out in our time of need. We had booked a Junior Suite and it was on the 7th floor, it had great views of the city and the sea and it was absolutely huge, the Jacuzzi bath was a brilliant addition! The only minor gripe we had was the description of the room having a "mini-bar", well it has a fridge with only 4 bottles of water, in all my travel all over the world it is the first time a mini-bar has not been stocked with various soft drinks and alcoholic drinks which would have been nice to go back for a night cap after dinner. However all in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona if you are happy to be slightly outside the main areas and walk or get a taxi into the main sight seeing areas.

Room Tip: If you can, go for a Junior Suite!

Overall, we expected more services and ammenities from a 4 star hotel, but the room allowed us to be self-sufficient for some of our meals and between trips to the beach. We stayed in a junior suite, and it was absolutey worth whatever the price difference is. These rooms are up on the 7th floor (definately ask to be on an upper floor), and there was a mini refrigerator with shelves to store groceries. There is no sink or kitchenette extras like a kettle or cutlery. You have to bring all of your own supplies (we did ask downstairs at the cafe for salt, pepper and cutlery, and it was like twisting an arm off). The dinning room is more like a cafe and was open at times that were inconvenient for us. Instead, we went to the grocery store, bakery and fruitery to make picnic food for the beach and snacks for drink hour. The balcony was the best part. Coffee, drinks and card games happened daily our there for us!

The desk staff was very young but did their best to work efficiently. Other reviews are accurate; the lobby is feels sterile uncomfortable. Enjoy your room, but otherwise, get out into the neighborhood. The hotel is in a quaint part of the city where there is a lot of local foot traffic. We stayed for almost a week and started to recognize faces at breakfast on the main street. It is a beautiful, meandering walk to the beach (about 10 minutes), and it we found enough space for ourselves by the water. There is a very small pool on the roof that was always crowded and didn't have enough lounge chairs. Plan to go to the beach. We slept well because there are room darkening windows, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was always cleaned well and very spacious.

In summary, I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a neighborhood feel and prefer to be somewhat self-sufficient. Take advantage of the beach and walk the length of the El Poblenou to find hidden dining gems.

Room Tip: Invest in the junior suite or larger and take advantage of the minifridge. Ask to be on an upper flo...

Confortel barcelona , is in a quiet area of the city but close to the beach . Don't let this put off though as I had a massive bedroom with a very comfortable bed.10mins from Llacuna metro station on the yellow line , I found this hotel a little far from the main sights but had a good deal. Roof swimming pool was a added bonus during very warm weather

Stayed here as we were surprising our niece for her 18th birthday........... although clean, it's overly clean to the extent it's more like a hospital.People were to scared to walk on the floor for fear of making it dirty. No ambiance warmth, lacked atmosphere and staff mmmmmm lacking customer service - it was a chore for them! And it ain't cheap!!!!!

We arrived about 8pm, and there was one reception staff checking people in and must of been waiting bout 25mins to be seen, however we didn't let this bother us. Taxi was €25 from the aiport to the hotel and was only 20mins! The hotel it's self is located 5min walk from the beach, absolutely lovely beach front with loads of bars and restaurants. We walked all the way along the beach front down to la rambla which took about 45mins however was a lovely walk, the sun was shining and had a few drinks along the way. La rambla is 1.2km long and if full with shops, bars, restaurants and more shops! Loads of back alleys with loads of little boutiques which were lovely, la rambla also has a subway, Starbucks mcdonalds and a Hard Rock Cafe! Cocktails are amaze in the HR CAFE! on our second day we hired bikes from the hotel as we thought this would be a quicker was of getting round, they cost €15 per bike per day and they were so much fun! We biked along the beach front round the port and through la rambla! The hotel it's self is pretty standard, reception staff were ok however not great. The beds are massive however quiet hard, the bathroom is massive aswell which is always good. Good hotel for a few nights away though. Ideal location for those who don't want to be amongst everything and don't mind a stroll. The weather was perfect for us 20degrees so not to hot not to cold. There is also a massive shopping centre 15 mins wall away from the hotel, Zara, h and m, pull and bear, etc. there is a small supermarket round the cornor which was handy and also bars and restaurants within 2 mins walk from the hotel, however la rambla has better range of bars and reaturants! Have a lovely time!

Looking to find a room for one night in Barcelona is a nightmare, so many and all seem expensive, no parking and a pain to get to. Found this hotel listed at 245€ a night reduced to 70€, private secure parking (we were on bikes) easy to find only two blocks in from the coast it turned out to be a very good choice.
Modern and un impersonal it is a 'business hotel', staff were excellent, polite and smiling. Terrific breakfast, large room with big bathroom, free WiFi FREE WATER in the fridge.
Turn right out of the hotel next street is restaurants for 300 yards, good choice and very good food. Definitely use it again (at 70€)
