“A stones throw from the Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

A spotless and stylish hotel that is less than 5 mins walk from the beach and 35 mins walk to the city centre or 10 mins walk to the tourist bus stops to all the cities wonderful attraction. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Only negative points were that there is no restaurant bar for drinks and the breakfast is very expensive 15 Euros per person and no where near worth that. Eat out, Barcelona has plenty to offer. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We actually thought the hotel was decent. Our room had a nice view and it appeared to be immaculate. However, the following morning I took a shower and realized the tub had a decent sized crack in it that had been there for a while, which caused the whole room to smell while using the shower. My husband also noticed that our bed sheet had a streak of blood on it. We informed the hotel staff who apologized and changed the sheets. They did not address the tub- but oh well. Then during the day my husband had noticed he had rows of bite marks along his body. He suspected bed bugs. When he returned to work he consulted with his colleague (a dermatologist) who confirmed he had in fact been bitten numerous times by bed bugs. It really is too bad about the whole bedbug issue because I liked the fact that the hotel was very close to the beach and was nice and modern. I hope they remedy this situation soon because it was a decent hotel.

After a few nights in the city center, we wanted to move closer to the beach and a little off the beaten tourist path. This hotel made our previous 3 star look like a 1 star in comparison, and we found the best food of our whole trip off la rambla poblenou which was our own little rambla right around the corner. The beach is 3 minutes and the rooftop views show la sagrad familia not to mention the ocean! We loved how we could still access tourist sights via metro, but found barceloneta and other sights within 20 mins walking ad well. Stayed here twice we liked it so much! If you need a break from the tourist traps and crowds, come here and really enjoy Barcelona at leisure.

Plus points about hotel:
Near beach and metro stop
Clean and comfortable
Nice roof top terrace with v small pool
Lots of restaurants nearby

Negatives:
Sterile hotel and lacks atmosphere
No actual bar, just restaurant that doesn't look welcoming

Booked as a last minute deal and nice enough but wouldn't stay again. Last time we stayed at H10 Barcelona marina which probably a better location and much nicer hotel.

My wife and I stayed here in June 2013 for three nights. We were hesitant at first because it was a little out of the way. When we arrived we were impressed with the hotel overall. It was new and clean. Had a pool on the top floor overlooking the ocean. Small gym but newer machines to get the job done. There was a metro station (Llacuna) two blocks away (5min walk) which connected you with the entire city. Very convenient. Also, the beach was only a few blocks away. We walked all the way to barceloneta beach is about a 15 min walk so we did it one day but found that the area near the hotel was better. Less crowded and flatter.

We never ate at the restaurant because there were a lot of restaurants on a long strip close by.

Oh and the hotel provides 4 small bottles of water each day free of charge. The wifi is free and worked very well.

If you need to wash clothes while in this area, "Tintoreria" is a few blocks away. We were at the end of our trip so we had two loads of clothes washes, dried and folded for 20E. It's open from 9-8pm with a drop off/pick up.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights to attend a conference at CCIB. The room was dusty and not clean. We had problems with shower. Asked for a different room, we couldn't get it. The staff at reception was not helpful and very adamant. The linens were not changed every morning, we had to sleep with the same linen for 3 days before we complained. The breakfast was very expensive and not of good standard. The breakfast buffet was very limited and was charged 15 euros per person. I certainly would not recommend this hotel for stay.

Room Tip: Please do not go for triple rooms. Worst and depressive views.

The Confortel is a short walk to the beaches of Barcelona and the Poblenou Rambla. The hotel is clean and very modern if somewhat spartan in decor, grey wood veneer furniture with bits of red formica remind one of a 70s coffee bar.

It is a pleasant 3Km walk along the beaches to the Conference Centre (which I was attending) and an equally interesting walk in the other direction downtown or you can take the metro which is an easy 10 minute walk. The actual area around the hotel other than Poblenou Rambla is of little interest. There was quite a lively street party there on the Saturday night!

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, but my phone didn't work so ordering room service meant a trip to reception which was worth it because the food was good,
