Owner description: El Paraigua is not only a jewel in the midst of the modernism route of Barcelona, nor is it only a regular cocktail lounge. Neither is it only an ideal location for concerts with the most perfect acoustic sounds reflected off the stone arches of the wine cellars, that was once the home to one of the oldest convents in the Barrio Gotico, nor is it only an intimate place with a display of local art exhibitions, an ideal location to hold conferences and events located in the heart of Barcelona. El Paraigua is all of this and much more. An exceptional property, directly behind plaza St.Jaume, open to all those who enjoy a good cocktail, try an extensive choice of tapas and a wide variety of national wines, allowing yourself to become lost within the music in a bar full of charm, character and endless history.

“Awesome cellar bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Cool atmosphere, very friendly bar lady. Located in the cellar of a restaurant. They also have a stage for live gigs (unfortunately we just missed the band).

“Best place to visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Great food, best drinks, excellent wine - Mas Que ParauLes (from Catalunya) and great atmosphere - very helpful and friendly staff. Great live music at the evening, nice 1960's bar. Just must visit this place!

“Excellent after-dinner option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

No idea about food, but cocktails and live music are very good. Staff is dynamic and helpful, while keeping the informal attitude which matches the atmosphere. Oh the atmosphere ... indeed it has been a while since I listened to live music in a cooler environment: maybe I simply like the music genres thay have on stage but like to think it´s a combination of all the elements which make this one of the best after dinner spots in Ciutad Vella.

“great cocktails, great night.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

upstairs cafe bar - downstairs great cocktail bar. The bar tender - pure genius, made me a cocktail just for me, as I don't like a lot of spirits, and it was divine. gin and tonics an artform. came back to see a group performing, what a good night, small and intimate, what's not to love.

“Very expensive for average quality”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Girlfriend and I paid 50 Euros for Tapas, were both still hungry and most of the tapas were simply bread with salami and comparable things, so nothing too exquisite... In my eyes besides the nice seats outside not a great place...
