“Fantastic views, and much more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Easy to find with ample parking.Sitting in one of the spacious lounge areas, it was November and we enjoyed the log fires as we took in the fantastic views of the castle, cathedral, aqueduct - like something from a Disney scene. Enjoyable meal with local cuisine, excellent breakfast. Lovely room, very clean, this hotel is a real jewel.

Room Tip: try room 315, with balcony

This Parador has amazing views over one of Spains most monumental cities. Enjoy these from your bedroom, the outdoor pool or the elegant dining room which serves great local cuisine.

Surprisingly modern, this Parador de Segovia boasts contemporary design in its interiors. Walls are hung with modern paintings which complement the elegant furniture.

The gardens surroundings the property are the perfect place to enjoy the Spanish sunshine and discover peace and quiet.

Relax in the circular indoor swimming pool which is heated and also boasts more fabulous views over Segovia and its surrounding landscape.

Enjoy fresh, local produce in the Para de Segovio's restaurant - try the speciality roast pork which is cooked in a wood-fired oven.

There are two types of Paradors:

1. The refurbrished medieval pile, beautiful if slightly draughty, history seeping out of the walls or 2. modern, well located and relaxing. All have excellent restaurants. This one is definitely type 2, well if your idea of modern is the early 90s. The approach to the hotel (its rear) reveals a red brick and concrete bunker-like mass, which thankfully is not replicated on it's front which is more appealing on the eye.

We stayed here for a long weekend in September and used it as a base to visit the beautiful medieval town of Segovia. The location is excellent, with a terrace overlooking the old town which is spectacular, especially when viewed at night. As for the he hotel itself, the rooms are clean, well presented and all have a balcony for evening relaxation, most with great views. The restaurant is solid if a little pricey and you have the option to dine on the terrace (take it!). Although one or two waiters are a little stiff, service is friendly and everyone is helpful. The grounds are great for relaxing while downing a glass or two, but we didn't use the pool; I suspect like most Spanish hotels, it's not heated. Nobody else seemed keen on a dip either. The interior is a little bit bland and corporate, some of the carpets are threadbare and walls scuffed, but with some TLC and a bit more energy, this place could be really lovely. It just feels like nobody has given it that care in a few years and that in a few more the place will start to look really fraid.

My one big grouch was that when we arrived we were placed in a twin room, despite specifying a double on the booking. We were then told the only way to change was to move to a lower room with no view of Segovia. On seeing the room my pregnant wife burst in to tears. Faced with this another room miraculously became available, complete with picture perfect view of the town. The adage nobody messes with a pregnant lady comes true once again. The hotel came good in the end, but it was the wrong foot to get off on. Their claim was that it was Hotels.com that messed up the booking, but I've never had a problem with them before.

Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here, it makes a great weekend and the surrounding area is just wonderful. I just hope the place gets a little more attention soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a full view of the town. Some views are blocked by the huge trees growing in the...

Cant be classed a 4 star. Old tired rooms, desperately in need of some renovations.
Even the carpeting throughout the hotel was tatty.

Pool / view and the garden area was perfect for the kids to run around.

The parador of Segovia is modern, set on a high hill overlooking Segovia with great views of the aqueduct and cathedral and mountains in the distance. We had great views from our balcony in room 510 on the top floor. Fantastic room, very large, nice bed, big bathroom and great shower. Restaurant at the parador was wonderful with great service, food and views. I wish we had planned a longer visit to Segovia to spend more time in the city and visiting the aqueduct and cathedral.

The Parador de Segovia is very much up to the Paradores' standards, with very well appointed and comfortable rooms. The view over the old Segovia quarter is breathtaking - although you may need to enjoy it from the pool side or the terrace (my room's balcony was very nice, but it's view was blocked by a tall tree!). As usual in Paradores, it is very much worth paying extra to get the superb breakfast buffet. In this one, however, I missed the Lavazza espresso machine!

This hotel is fine. The rooms are in a desperate need of re furbishing but the view of Segovia was fantastic. It reminded me of a hostel rather than a hotel.
Our room stunk of cigarettes, we were quickly moved.
The air conditioning didn't work and it took all day for someone to come and fix it
Breakfast was ok and the staff a little grumpy
