“wonderful stay with castle view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

We stayed 2 nights at the Don Felipe and had a room with a private terrace. The terrace had a view of the casle, which was wonderful to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.. If you do not have a terrace room, the hotel also has a very nice garden patio that has views of the castle. The hotel is beautifully appointed, as was the room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They have a private garage under the hotel for a fee, which was convenient for us as we had a car. The hotel is located close to everything in the old town.
I highly recommend the hotel and would love to visit again! Thank you Hotel Don Felipe for making our visit to Segovia so Wonderful!

Room Tip: Pay for an upgraded room with private terrace, well worth it!

Even though this review has taken some time to make (we visited in Oct, yes, Oct 2013), time has escaped! The hotel was extremely well located, even though we had some initial issues finding the hotel car park (due to one way streets!), once the car was in the downstairs basement and 'tucked away for 2 days', we were happy. A lovely boutique hotel in a fabulous location, with friendly staff. We are definitely returning to both the hotel and this beautiful town!

Hotel’s own car parking in basement (enter fro back of hotel). Hotel will take car keys off you (they like to move the cars with back to the wall). Car parking was euro 13 per night. The car park lift takes you to garden, dining room and reception as well as 2nd floor but you have to get another lift from reception (which is 2nd floor up to 3rd floor).

Hotel is built on slope (as is all of the town) so has many layers. The hotel is clean and bright, very funky and has two 2nd and 3rd floors. We had room 307 with a step up bathroom (with sky light which makes a nice and bright bathroom), an “attic” type study area leading to a “roof” balcony that overlooks the Alcazar.

The room is spacious, clean and comfy. Bed and pillows comfy, water pressure great. Hotel has a cute garden terrace that also overlooks the Alcazar. I think any lower, the view to the Alcazar is blocked by other rooftops. Hotel is centrally located with Alcazar on left about 6 mins walk down and Cathedral and Aqueduct on right (about 4 and 15 mins walk down). Check in easy and pleasant.

Once found and car parked this Hotel is perfectly placed for the Alcazar and the Restaurants of the old town. The Hotel itself is boutique style, sparkling, comfortable and modern in an old building with a tierred garden overlooking the Alcazar and the parkland around.Comfortable garden chairs and drinks from the bar make this a perfect place to relax in the evening sun.The Staff were all helpful and smiley and we would recommend a stay here without hesitation.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights while traveling with a tour group. The experience was everything I could ask for: great location, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and pillows, quiet enough for a good night's sleep, well-functioning plumbing and Wi-Fi. Two things made the stay memorable; a wonderful array of breakfast options and a garden with a view in the back of the hotel. I would be happy to stay here again.

On the narrow Calle Daoiz between the Cathedral and the Alcazar is this charming little hotel. On a busy day it takes no little chutzpah to drive through the pedestrian Plaza Mayor to get to the hotel, then to block the street as you run in to find out where to park. Fortunately, there are some spaces below the hotel, reached from around the block, with elevators right up into the hotel. Our Saturday-night-before-Easter stay was the perfect time to see the parades and floats of the different Catholic groups, many in spooky KKK style hoods, and the Don Felipe is located just at the edge of all the activity. Our third floor room had a sloped roof ceiling and skylight/window that cooled the room at night (it was pre-AC season, but warm out). The room was a good size, with large modern stone tile bathroom and a comfortable bed. Public spaces, except for the breakfast room, we're small, but everything is decorated with contemporary and modern art. The staff were also very helpful but spoke limited English. Breakfast was good with good selections of cheeses, meats, eggs, breads, fruits, yogurt, etc. We had a great stay after eating tapas, drinking tinto, and watching the parades.

Room Tip: A garden view might be quieter at busy times

A very good option for exploring the beautiful city of Segovia. Situated a couple of minutes from both the main square with its beautiful cathedral and the almost fairy tale Alcazar, the Don Felipe is a charming hotel. The building has been sympathetically converted into a hotel. Rooms are a reasonable size and have the usual mod cons . Beds are comfy, everywhere is immaculately clean and service is friendly and welcoming. There is a nice outside bar for drinks overlooking the Alcazar but limited shade so better for early evening than a hot lunchtime. Breakfast was good and there is a good selection for all tastes. We stayed in April so the air con was not turned on for the summer but the hotel did provide us with a fan which was very much appreciated.

We did not use the parking and for those that do, be warned that Segovia has very narrow streets. Wifi was good. There are lifts for those less able to cope with stairs. Bars and restaurants are literally moments away and the hotel reception will happily make recommendations or point you in the right direction.

I hope to return to Segovia and when I do, the Don Felipe will be my hotel of choice.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have a view of the Alcazar
