“Fantastic value in historic Salamanca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Stayed for one night on our way to Portugal, was nicely surprised with the hotel and Salamanca. Highly recommend and will likely return.

Great
- fantastic value - a 4 star hotel at very affordable rate with breakfast
- very friendly staff, receptionist provided a map and explained attractions (she also gave few recommendations for dinner and we ended up eating lobster at a cost of McD)
- specious and very comfortable room with beautifully decorated bathroom and wonderful view on the historic city (we stayed on the 4th floor)
- location - 10 minute walk from main square / 5 minutes from roman bridge & cathedrals
- wonderful breakfast buffet and fast free WiFi

To improve:
- add English tv channels - BBC or CNN international could benefit guests staying for couple of nights

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th floor to have a better view - we stayed on 4th and were surprised by the v...

Nice hotel, near sights, car park underneath, good and reasonably priced restaurant, what more could you want?
Good job the restaurant was good as there aren't any restaurants nearby.
Bed was a bit hard, as they seem to be in Spain.

This was the best hotel of our week in Spain. It had unique features, such as: a car elevator that took us from garage to our floor level; toiletries in Braille; a welcome note and cookies in the room; and a dental kit. The room was large with excellent lighting. Marble bathroom with separate WC.

Room Tip: We liked room 201.

This a classical hotel, the decoration is not brand new, but the rooms are very comfortable, clean, with a good size.
This hotel is located near Gran Via and Plaza Mayor is at a 10-min walking distance. The staff is nice, friendly, giving helpful information about the city.
The restaurant serves good food, the breakfast is ok due to variety, very in good in quality.
There are some nice restaurants near the hotel, and some nice bars too.

I arrived in Salamanca with a hotel reservation at another property. I was so disappointed that I left the hotel and did a quick search of hotels. I chose this one to look at – and then wound up staying and GLAD I did ! What a nice quiet property and in a very good location. I am picky but not fussy. I will make some amends in exchange for price. However, that was not the case here. Nice size room, very clean and updated room, flat screen with cable ( you can change the language on the TV), and a decent size bathroom with thick towels. There is no skimping at this hotel, they are truly “guests first” oriented.

The hotel staff and especially at the front desk were all extremely friendly and very helpful. “Si” is part of their motto – yes, they will assist if they can.

The location is excellent – about a 10 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. Also, the property is on the edge of some of the older churches and convents. Lots of eating options near-by. I never felt uncomfortable walking at night in this area. I was at this property on Halloween and although the streets were full of partiers, I got a good night’s quiet sleep.

This is a hotel that I strongly encourage you to select if you are on the fence and if your consideration includes: Comfort, Location and Price. Never had any concerns about putting my head down on the pillow at this hotel – it was truly clean and comfortable ~

Room Tip: Plaza 23 in Plaza Mayor for Pinxtos and Maison Geraldos for dinner

Las Claras was one of the bigger hotels we stayed in during a recent trip to Spain and it had a bit of that business hotel feel to it, but other than that I can't fault it.

In my opinion the location is perfect in a quiet area with a 'local' feel and free on-street parking available. There is a small plaza out the front and another one opposite where a little vinoteca with outside tables would make a great sport for an evening copa. However, if you want to be where all the action is it's about a 10min walk to the main plaza (but about five mins into that walk you're going past bars and restaurants, so it really is quite close).

The room was very large and well appointed. Good bathrooms, free wifi and we had a big window overlooking the plaza. The quality of the breakfast was pretty standard for a hotel (ok but not amazing - easy to do a lot better at a nearby cafe), but they certainly had a very large selection. Reception staff were efficient and polite, the water jugs in the reception area was a nice touch and there was little noise at night from the street or the corridor.

Overall this is a great value option in Salamanca.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have a large window that overlooks the plaza.

Chose this hotel for the secure parking & Very good price although I wasn't happy that we would have to pay for wifi. The good news is that wifi is now free so the value was excellent. Slight walk into the main plaza, comfortable room, good choice for breakfast, onsite garage parking at small cost. Would definitely reccomend.
