“Charming.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

We had a very nice stay at the Rector. The rooms were very nice, clean, good bed and nice shower, with a very nice location. Staff were friendly. It has a key amenity, parking (at least it was key for us) but they have only 4 spots, you need to book it in advance. Didn’t love the view of the inside courtyard/window well, my wife in particular prefers exterior rooms with more feeling of space.

Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the wall/cathedral.

What a wonderful welcome we had from the Receptionist she helped us with directions from the map she gave us, to taking our luggage to our room. Which was bright and nicely decorated very comfy beds and a lovely clean bathroom. The hotel was quite small but charming, lovely breakfast each morning. The hotel was just out side the city wall, very easy to walk into the town. Well worth staying at this charming hotel.

Fantastic experience. It was like to be in a friend´s house with a very attenctive and efficient but unobtrusive staff. Salamanca is an extraordinary city and to stay in this hotel is the perfect complement to a memorable trip. I do recommend it.

We returned to Hotel Rector in beautiful Salamanca at the end of September 2013. We had been there two years earlier. It was just as good. Salamanca is one of Europe's most beautiful cities and really worth visiting. The Hotel Rector remains a rare jewel in a growing world of tasteless hotels. Having had a long life experience of some the world's greatest hotels and resorts, staying in a charming and luxurious place like the Rector with such friendly staff, is comforting thought that hospitality, charm and luxury remain alive in Salamanca!

This is easily the best boutique hotel we have we have ever stayed in and it's better than most five star chain hotels. Located right across the street from the medieval city walls and so easy walking distance to all the main sights and restaurants. It only has 13 rooms so is very personal. On arrival Teresa at reception welcomed us and helped with our luggage. She was friendly, knowledgable and efficient as were all the staff. Her restaurant recommendations were both perfect. Our room on the first floor, there are only two floors, overlooked the city walls and the top of the cathedral. We had read another review saying the rooms were noisy but this is absolutely not true. Even though we faced the street we did not hear one single sound and we are both light sleepers. A Boeing could have landed and you would not hear it. The bedroom and bathroom were both a good size and the furniture was classy contemporary. There was lots of hanging and drawer space even though we are traveling for five weeks so have lots of clothes. The bathroom has two deep sinks and a great shower. They have Bulgari toiletries. One very important thing thing that most hotels totally screw up but Rector did not is great lighting in the bedroom and bathroom. They also had underground parking at the hotel. We loved our stay here and strongly recommend the Rector.

Room Tip: Upstairs at the front facing the city walls.

Unfortunately we only had one night in Salamanca, in September 2012, but we certainly picked a good hotel, due to the reviews on TA. We parked outside and were given a map of where to find the secure parking. When we got to the parking area the lovely receptionist was there to meet us and guide us through the corridors to reception. Very helpful and informative staff. Our room was enormous - so was the bathroom - and very clean and comfortable. All within easy walking distance of the university and all the other wonderful architecture which Salamanca contains.
