“Heaven in Salamanca !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

Our stay at Hotel Rector started with Silvia emailing us 5 days before we arrived to suggest we may want to book dinner on our first night there ( New Years Eve ) as they don't serve dinner and things get heavily booked at that time in Salamanca She was a wonderful help and we eventually decided on Restaurant Lis. A perfect choice !!
From the minute when we arrived late in the day the service we received from Ricardo Silvia and the rest of the staff was 6 star. Nothing was too much trouble
This is a very elegant hotel from the beautiful lounge areas to well appointed rooms.
The Breakfast and Breakfast Room are gorgeous from freshly made eggs to order everything was divine.
A very beautiful boutique hotel if you get the opportunity to stay here please do it will provide you with some wonderful experiences and beautiful memories once you have left.

In early November I had a two-night stay & felt as though I were a guest in a private home--but without the obligations to be sociable that are part of a private-home stay with friends. The staff was superb, as caring & helpful as it is possible to be. (Be sure to take their restaurant recommendations.) The public rooms & my bedroom were elegant; the breakfast buffet magnificent (including very expensive foods, like jamon iberico), with eggs made to order. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, & I commend the owners for hiring such wonderful people to tend to their guests.

I am a stickler for nice hotels and this one certainly impressed me. I was in Spain for four nights and wanted to experience something different for two nights, so I walked down to Hotel Rector. It is very small and intimate....I loved reading all the old books they have.

The rooms are immaculate, comfortable and beautiful. The beds are heavenly and the bathroom is very nice as well. I loved the architecture.

The location is pretty good, but it'd be a little nicer if it wasn't on such a busy road (but this does NOT effect the rooms)....but all of Salamanca is right there, just across the road.

The staff should be very proud and the breakfast is not to be missed! The front desk staff was great when I got sick and got me some medicine from the local pharmacy. It's little touches like that which set this hotel apart.

A winner for sure! I didn't use their front desk for travel information (as I was living there) but there's no doubt in my mind that they would do a great job with anything.

Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Get the upgraded room, they're bigger and worth it. Go to the hotel beforehand (if you can) and...

We found the Hotel Rector on Trip Advisor and it indeed deserves the number one rating for places to stay in Salamanca. The people working at the hotel are very service oriented and genuine--they offer just the right amount of interaction. Our corner room on the first floor was absolutely beautiful and comfortable for our family of four. It was spacious with a separate sleeping area for my husband and me. The bathroom was huge and head to toe marble. The bath products were luxurious. The hotel has a tranquil and classy feel. Everything was spotless. The location is terrific as well. We were able to reserve a parking space for our rental in the hotel's very small garage and walk everywhere around Old Salamanca. We look forward to returning one day. The Hotel Rector rates highly as one of the best stays ever!

Everything was exquisite. Our room, up one floor, was peaceful and quiet. No view to speak of, but who needs a view when the room is so lovely. Fine Portuguese embroidered linens, fresh flowers... Heaven. To top off our stay, the staff was exceptional in all ways. Luggage was carried to our room, restaurant recommendations were spot on. (We enjoyed the Taberna Cervantes on the Plaza Mayor- go up the steps to bar/ restaurant for a 2 euro glass of wine that includes a tapa of your choice. The selection of tapas is huge. Best time from 6-9pm, before dinner.) The front desk even took the time to help me find a local leather artisan who makes purses.
The breakfast buffet was excellent as well: fresh squeezed orange juice, café con leche, eggs done to your liking, toast, local cheeses and cured meats, granola, cereal, and yogurt.

Room Tip: Our room, up one floor, looked out on an interior patio. Not much of a view, but it guaranteed quiet...

This hotel is in an excellent location, has a friendly staff and is small and elegant. Rooms are quiet and are well proportioned. The hotel has parking. There is also ample parking for free near the hotel.

However, there are three issues that you should be aware of if you choose this hotel as follows:

1 - Ground floor rooms have paper thin walls and you will hear every single sound made in the adjoining room or in the lobby/dining area. We moved to a room on the floor above and it was totally quiet.

2 - Breakfast is carefully laid out in an elegant fashion but is really not worth it. There is almost no fruit, they offer a very limited selection of cheese, cereal and pastries.

3 - The hotel does not have a gym.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have paper thin walls and you will hear every sound made in the adjoining room or...

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience at Hotel Rector in Salamanca with other Tripadvisor users! We are very happy to know you enjoyed our central location as well as the ambience of the hotel and the service received by our team members.

With regards to the noise in your room, first of all accept our apologies for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you. At the Rector we take special pride in preserving the tranquility and relaxation of our guests. It is for this reason that on the daily basis we only hold events which do not interfere with the calm ambiance of the hotel and even from its construction, the hotel was built so that all of our rooms were equipped with the same sound-proof isolation system, including the 3 rooms located on the ground floor (no. 10, 11 and 12). However we take good note of your comment and will follow up with the engineering company in charge of the maintenance of the building to see possible improvements.

In reference to your comments on the breakfast selection, we continually update and improve our breakfast’s presentation as well as its content in order to better adapt to the changing needs of our guests. It is thanks to comments like yours that we are proud to offer nothing but the finest quality and selection of products, based on the season –such as strawberries, pineapples and other seasonal fruits, local specialties -such as Iberian Spanish cured ham and tomato spread-, as well as international items -such as British marmalades and French pastries-.

Absolutely perfect. This small elegant hotel has everything. Nothing has been overlooked. From the beautiful Portuguese embroidered linen to the wonderful breakfasts. Staff were very helpful and obliging. We would go back in a flash. Stay longer rather than shorter.
