In early November I had a two-night stay & felt as though I were a guest in a private home--but without the obligations to be sociable that are part of a private-home stay with friends. The staff was superb, as caring & helpful as it is possible to be. (Be sure to take their restaurant recommendations.) The public rooms & my bedroom were elegant; the breakfast buffet magnificent (including very expensive foods, like jamon iberico), with eggs made to order. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, & I commend the owners for hiring such wonderful people to tend to their guests.

I am a stickler for nice hotels and this one certainly impressed me. I was in Spain for four nights and wanted to experience something different for two nights, so I walked down to Hotel Rector. It is very small and intimate....I loved reading all the old books they have.

The rooms are immaculate, comfortable and beautiful. The beds are heavenly and the bathroom is very nice as well. I loved the architecture.

The location is pretty good, but it'd be a little nicer if it wasn't on such a busy road (but this does NOT effect the rooms)....but all of Salamanca is right there, just across the road.

The staff should be very proud and the breakfast is not to be missed! The front desk staff was great when I got sick and got me some medicine from the local pharmacy. It's little touches like that which set this hotel apart.

A winner for sure! I didn't use their front desk for travel information (as I was living there) but there's no doubt in my mind that they would do a great job with anything.

We found the Hotel Rector on Trip Advisor and it indeed deserves the number one rating for places to stay in Salamanca. The people working at the hotel are very service oriented and genuine--they offer just the right amount of interaction. Our corner room on the first floor was absolutely beautiful and comfortable for our family of four. It was spacious with a separate sleeping area for my husband and me. The bathroom was huge and head to toe marble. The bath products were luxurious. The hotel has a tranquil and classy feel. Everything was spotless. The location is terrific as well. We were able to reserve a parking space for our rental in the hotel's very small garage and walk everywhere around Old Salamanca. We look forward to returning one day. The Hotel Rector rates highly as one of the best stays ever!

Everything was exquisite. Our room, up one floor, was peaceful and quiet. No view to speak of, but who needs a view when the room is so lovely. Fine Portuguese embroidered linens, fresh flowers... Heaven. To top off our stay, the staff was exceptional in all ways. Luggage was carried to our room, restaurant recommendations were spot on. (We enjoyed the Taberna Cervantes on the Plaza Mayor- go up the steps to bar/ restaurant for a 2 euro glass of wine that includes a tapa of your choice. The selection of tapas is huge. Best time from 6-9pm, before dinner.) The front desk even took the time to help me find a local leather artisan who makes purses.
The breakfast buffet was excellent as well: fresh squeezed orange juice, café con leche, eggs done to your liking, toast, local cheeses and cured meats, granola, cereal, and yogurt.
