I don't have one single bad thing to say about the Rector quality...just that I find the place somewhat overrated and strongly overpriced.
"Stellar location"...well, the location is perfect for visiting Salamanca, but upon arrival, you are a bit surprized to find the hotel is along the dusty, busy road ring that surrounds the old town, and even more surprized to discover the hotel is in fact the street level and the underground floor!
Indeed the whole thing is very nice and comfy, with details like Bulgari amenities in the bathrooms, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and of good advise, the breakfast buffet is small but tasty and appetizing.
For a so-called "superior room", at 158 euros, when you add breakfast, garage parking (rather compulsory due to the area) and tax, you arrive over 200 euros a night. In Spain, out of Madrid, this is what I pay for a luxury hotel. Sorry, but the Rector is nothing like this, simply a very nice boutique hotel. Among many others in Castille. For similar places in Avila or Segovia, we paid about 120/130 euros, in places that perfectly bear the comparison. I don't say one should avoid the Rector, but I would think in the many 4-star hotels of Salamanca you have much better deals.
