The Landa Palace is located on the main route north from Madrid to Bilbao on the outskirts of Burgos. When driving from the South you should wtach out for the Landa Palace signs which direct you onto a slip road which takes you under the main road and up to the entrance of the hotel. The Reception area has recently been refurbished and is covered with luxurious rugs and beautiful 'knoll' sofa's and chairs, with antiques and suits of armour. The reception staff are warm and friendly and if you have booked in advance, your registration form only requires your signature. There is also private underground parking available if you want to keep your car secure. Porters help you with your luggage and take you to your room. The rooms fall into differing catagories but all are comfortable and in an elegant traditional Spanish style. Each room has an individual Air conditioning / Climate control and the Bathrooms are big, elegant and luxurious with separate bath and shower, plus all the toiletries and hair dryer. Each room has satallite television which includes one news channel in English. There is both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and extensive views of the surrounding countryside. The restaurant is beautiful domed room which has been recently refurbished with classical elegant furnishings and carpet. Specialities of the region are milk fed lamd and suckling pig, and both are thoroughly recommended. The Wine list is extensive and surprisingly good value for money, with several wines under 10 for a full bottle, ranging up to 400 for the most exquisite wines of the world. The service is effecient and discreate as you would expect in one of the regions finest hotels. The cost of a double room was 200 per night. Dinner and wine for 2 people was about 50 per head. A very enjoyable stay and we WILL return.

- The beginning of the Landa dates back to 1959. A little restaurant was opened 2 km outside Burgos where travellers used to refresh themselves on their journey along the road which, despite its faults, was then the main route linking the capital with the north of Spain. The commitment of the Landa family to the hotel business dates back to the beginning of the 20th century with the "Real Club de Puerta de Hierro" in Madrid and "La Perla" in San Sebastian, and later with "La Gran Taberna", also in Madrid. The Landa started out during hard times for the Spanish hotel business in non urban areas; the hotel, its various extensions, the tower, the pool, the square...
