“Not a bad visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

A nice museum with a pretty courtyard with benches scattered around to relax. Inside the building there are numerous paintings and artifacts which can kill sometime as it did for us as we were looking to do something as we had a few hours until our train arrived.

Free entrance so it's worth a visit!

“Museum in former XVI c hospital”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

The former XVI c. hospital houses a collection of paintings and works or art. Works by El Greco attract the most attention, but there is a good collection of Spanish ceramics and artifacts from Toledan churches and archeological finds from the region. The building itself is the most interesting part, when you imagine what it must have been like when it was used as a hospital, with dozens of beds lined in each room.

“Fantastic El Grecos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

Set in a disused hospital, the museum covers art painting and archeology. Especially the paintings by El Greco are a delight to see. Don't miss the large Portuguese tiles.

“Pretty good for free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We needed to kill some time before our train back to Madrid so we decided to pop in to the Museo de Santa Cruz. Being a little tired after a day of going up and down hills in Toledo we first sat on one of the benches in the courtyard overlooking a nice garden. Scattered around on the walls were some interesting old gravestones.

After a while we decided to explore some. We found there were 3 separate exhibitions. 1 of tiles and ceramics from the Toledo area. All the descriptions were in Spanish so we didn't really understand them, but it was fun to try and translate the text based on the French we know.

The second exhibit was a combination of art and artifacts that went as far back as 10th century BC. We wound up spending 1.5 hours in here, and for our family in a museum, that is an eternity.
