“Modern decor, pool ok, service good, location ok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk to the main gate of Toledo (Puerta De Bisagra).

The hotel is modern décor and clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Our tour group (Leger Holidays) check in was quick and we were into our rooms within 10 minutes.
The hotel has free WiFi which is good throughout the hotel, just seemed to take a while to find the signal.

Our room was quite a good size double, with a large king bed.
There’s enough room (just) to store two large suitcases, which as we were here for just one night, we ‘lived out of’.
There’s plenty of wardrobe space, a minibar, an in room safe and air conditioning which wasn’t so effective even at the minimum setting.
The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, clean fluffy towels and shower gel and shampoo.

The outdoor pool is small, though clean.
There are just 6 sun loungers, and then a grassy area behind the pool.
There a small ‘shed’ where you can get a pool towel and a drink.
We arrived late June, and the pool area looses the sun around 6pm.

The dining area is a nice cooling quiet room with a balcony overlooking Toledo, though you can’t quite see the Alcazar. Maybe ask for a room overlooking Toledo for the best views.
The breakfast buffet has a good selection, there are two toasting machines and two coffee machine. The usual buffet items including cold meats, cheeses, pastries, bread, yoghurts, cereals, fruit and a few hot options – see my photos.

Our group evening meal was ok, with a few bottles of wine on the tables. I think they had prepared something quite simple for our large group as other guests were being served different dishes.
The food was ok quality and quantity.

A nice hotel for the overnight stop off during our Leger tour.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room overlooking Toledo - Good views !

The hotels location is a bit far a way from old city. But you can walk or take a bus. The rooms was light-well. There is a good car park area but with a charge. The charge was not expensive. The personel was friendly.

The hotel is 15 minutes walk from the old city.
A bit old but fairly maintained.
Poor breakfast. Nice staff.
Don't pay for the hotel's parking! Park your car free at the cemetery which is 3 minutes walk from the hotel.
All & all rating: 3.5
Enjoy

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

We had stayed in Eurostars Palace Cordoba the night before. That was a 5* and this a 4* but costing twice as much. So our expectations were quite high. We were very disappointed. The hotel presents more as a budget hotel. On arrival there was some confusion about getting in the garage. The reception staff were more interested in telling me that the room wasn't ready. I didn't want the room as we were going to explore first before checking in. The location is about 20 minutes away from the town and has a hill. There is a bus, apparently. We found the room was smaller than expected and the bed was very hard.It was very basic with no extras.Continental breakfast was also basic and did not offer value for money. I cannot understand why this hotel is priced as it is and has a 4* rating.

The hotel was OK, room was large, clean and the view was great. On the negative side I'd say location, and services.
Services:
Though Internet is free, coverage in my room was so weak I couldn't use it.
The Hotel has a swimming pool but it was closed since was out season (I was in April and temperature was above 30°C)
Location:
There's nothing to eat or do nearby. If you don't have a car you'll have to do a lot of walking. If you have a car you'll have to pay 9€ for parking.
You are over a mile away from the nearest entrance to the old city and no public transport (bus) that I could find to get back from there. A cab is not too expensive though, about 6 euros

What I do not understand how this hotel got 4 star ? It says that check-in is at 14:00. We arrived 10 minutes earlier and the room was not ready. OK, though we have come earlier . We booked a room with a view of the city as an extra cos . At 15:00 room was not ready yet, and check-out is by 12:00. So ,3 hours and the room was not ready?? Then they offer us a room without a view , but we refused . After a little more serious conversations with the staff we got a room at 15:40 .... almost 2 hours later than scheduled. Just to mention, there were no crowds at either the hotel or at the reception. The girl at the reception desk was very embarrassed by the situation. In 4 star hotel such things should not happen . And that's not all. At the entrance to the hotel there were jugs with juice for refreshments that you pour yourself . But watch out, we encountered two glasses with broken edges . 4 star ? But that's not all .... breakfast was complete chaos. At one point, not only were missing plates, but the cutlery also and food disappeared and there were about 20 people in restaurant. 4 stars? However, as compensation , on departure they did not charged us extra for room with the view.

But, If you take a room with a view, you will not regret it ... especially at night. But beware ... the lights that illuminate the old town are turned off at midnight

Room Tip: Room 510, room with a view

We were looking forward to a nice four star break in Toledo; however, I feel the hotel should be a three star hotel.

The hotel is a twenty minute bus ride or a taxi ride to the centre of the city. The front desk really tries to look after you, but, they cannot multi task - you have to wait a long time to get served. The desk staff speak reasonable English, but communication is difficult; however, they do their best with only one person on the front desk. One they get to you they are very helpful. If you call the front desk from your room you are always on hold listening to music and eventually get lost.

Parking is a a highly skilled art as the ramp down ,even in the daylight, is difficult to manoeuvre . If anybody tried to get out at the same time it would be impossible to reverse back. The staff suggest not to attempting parking at night- take a taxi.

The restaurant is very limited. I asked for the wine list and was told my choice was between Cava, red or white wine. The red was so new it could not to be considered. Our food was fine, except for my the fact that wife's fish, had not been deboned,so, she spent most of the meal picking out the bones. One of the problems of the hotel's location is that it is not close to any local restaurant so we were forced to eat in the hotel. For two nights the meal was disrupted by drunken bus tourists. The breakfast buffet was fine, but eat after ten when the tourist buses have left.

My real complaint is the lack of staff. One person on the front desk and when we had dinner there was a tour of 28 people plus hotel clients with only one waiter and one chef. This hotel is totally understaffed to the detriment of their clients. The staff do their best.

Our room was a fair size, but the bed was as hard as nails. The free Wifi in the rooms was appreciated but was very slow.

All in all it was an OK stay, but the hotel needs fine tuning to become a four star hotel on my books
