“Nice hotel, bad location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

The hotel was OK, room was large, clean and the view was great. On the negative side I'd say location, and services.
Services:
Though Internet is free, coverage in my room was so weak I couldn't use it.
The Hotel has a swimming pool but it was closed since was out season (I was in April and temperature was above 30°C)
Location:
There's nothing to eat or do nearby. If you don't have a car you'll have to do a lot of walking. If you have a car you'll have to pay 9€ for parking.
You are over a mile away from the nearest entrance to the old city and no public transport (bus) that I could find to get back from there. A cab is not too expensive though, about 6 euros

What I do not understand how this hotel got 4 star ? It says that check-in is at 14:00. We arrived 10 minutes earlier and the room was not ready. OK, though we have come earlier . We booked a room with a view of the city as an extra cos . At 15:00 room was not ready yet, and check-out is by 12:00. So ,3 hours and the room was not ready?? Then they offer us a room without a view , but we refused . After a little more serious conversations with the staff we got a room at 15:40 .... almost 2 hours later than scheduled. Just to mention, there were no crowds at either the hotel or at the reception. The girl at the reception desk was very embarrassed by the situation. In 4 star hotel such things should not happen . And that's not all. At the entrance to the hotel there were jugs with juice for refreshments that you pour yourself . But watch out, we encountered two glasses with broken edges . 4 star ? But that's not all .... breakfast was complete chaos. At one point, not only were missing plates, but the cutlery also and food disappeared and there were about 20 people in restaurant. 4 stars? However, as compensation , on departure they did not charged us extra for room with the view.

But, If you take a room with a view, you will not regret it ... especially at night. But beware ... the lights that illuminate the old town are turned off at midnight

Room Tip: Room 510, room with a view

We were looking forward to a nice four star break in Toledo; however, I feel the hotel should be a three star hotel.

The hotel is a twenty minute bus ride or a taxi ride to the centre of the city. The front desk really tries to look after you, but, they cannot multi task - you have to wait a long time to get served. The desk staff speak reasonable English, but communication is difficult; however, they do their best with only one person on the front desk. One they get to you they are very helpful. If you call the front desk from your room you are always on hold listening to music and eventually get lost.

Parking is a a highly skilled art as the ramp down ,even in the daylight, is difficult to manoeuvre . If anybody tried to get out at the same time it would be impossible to reverse back. The staff suggest not to attempting parking at night- take a taxi.

The restaurant is very limited. I asked for the wine list and was told my choice was between Cava, red or white wine. The red was so new it could not to be considered. Our food was fine, except for my the fact that wife's fish, had not been deboned,so, she spent most of the meal picking out the bones. One of the problems of the hotel's location is that it is not close to any local restaurant so we were forced to eat in the hotel. For two nights the meal was disrupted by drunken bus tourists. The breakfast buffet was fine, but eat after ten when the tourist buses have left.

My real complaint is the lack of staff. One person on the front desk and when we had dinner there was a tour of 28 people plus hotel clients with only one waiter and one chef. This hotel is totally understaffed to the detriment of their clients. The staff do their best.

Our room was a fair size, but the bed was as hard as nails. The free Wifi in the rooms was appreciated but was very slow.

All in all it was an OK stay, but the hotel needs fine tuning to become a four star hotel on my books

The hotel is in a good location, particularly if you have a car. We drove here and were able to access the hotel easily and left the car in the car park. After seeing some of the streets inside the city we were convinced that we made the right choice. The receptionist told us that the city was a 20 minute walk away, but the city walls weren't very far at all.

The hotel was nice, clean and comfortable. The free wi-fi in the room worked well. The room was quite noisy and we could hear what I assume was the cleaning staff talking and moving around very early in the morning.

We had room service one night which took a long time to arrive, but the food was good and reasonably priced.

This hotel was very comfortable and clean. One side of the hotel features beautiful views of Toledo, while the other features views of the parking lot. My view was of the latter, which probably explains the low price, but I was there to walk around the old town, not to stare at it from my hotel room. The walk into town is relatively short, although it's a bit of a climb. Overall, great place.

Room Tip: If you want a good view, be sure to ask for it.

We enjoyed our stay at the eurostar after a staying in 2&3 star hotels while travelling around Spain and Portugal.

It is a typical four star hotel with all the usual trimmings. Rooms were clean and beds were good. The rooms were also very quiet.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

We had room service for the two nights we were there and it was a battle. No one in the restaurant spoke english. The meals were expensive and my wife ordered the same meal on consecutive nights and they were completely different in taste and meal portion.

You can park in the street across from the hotel but during the day you must purchase a ticket from the machine.

Walk into the old quarter takes about 20 minutes.
