The cliché is that a man's home is his castle...literally so in Oropesa. The Parador is easily located off the main highway between Madrid and Trujillo (but not close enough to hear any traffic in the distance). The history of the castle is long--originally built in the mid 1300s and restored in 1400s--and has been a place of rest in various forms in all those years.
Check-in was easy. We upgraded to a room with a view, but determined that nearly every room had some view worth seeing. Some rooms have small balconies. The room itself was large and comfortable. The hotel common areas are grand and relaxing. We did eat at this Parador as the choices in Oropesa were few. The menu was creative but the food was just above-average. 70€ for two main dishes, bottle of wine, and dessert.
Oropesa is a nice small community. The people were not as outgoing as other parts of Spain, but they were very friendly. Take some time to enjoy the town and visit the church and castle tower.
There is a swimming pool, bar, lounge, loads of public space, and free parking. Sunsets are free! We stayed on the 5-Night Card for a rate of 90€/night + upgraded room extra 18€. The Parador is located at 39 55.192N, 5 10.4685W (type this into Google Earth/Maps). I would not hesitate to stay here again.
