The cliché is that a man's home is his castle...literally so in Oropesa. The Parador is easily located off the main highway between Madrid and Trujillo (but not close enough to hear any traffic in the distance). The history of the castle is long--originally built in the mid 1300s and restored in 1400s--and has been a place of rest in various forms in all those years.
Check-in was easy. We upgraded to a room with a view, but determined that nearly every room had some view worth seeing. Some rooms have small balconies. The room itself was large and comfortable. The hotel common areas are grand and relaxing. We did eat at this Parador as the choices in Oropesa were few. The menu was creative but the food was just above-average. 70€ for two main dishes, bottle of wine, and dessert.
Oropesa is a nice small community. The people were not as outgoing as other parts of Spain, but they were very friendly. Take some time to enjoy the town and visit the church and castle tower.
There is a swimming pool, bar, lounge, loads of public space, and free parking. Sunsets are free! We stayed on the 5-Night Card for a rate of 90€/night + upgraded room extra 18€. The Parador is located at 39 55.192N, 5 10.4685W (type this into Google Earth/Maps). I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Attended a wedding with my wife.

A very beautiful hotel with good sized rooms. Cost just under 400euro for 3 nights(breakfast 13.50 extra) - I thought this was a little excessive given the remote location but was well worth it for the quality of hotel. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room was a very good size with a modern bathroom (great shower). There is a really good outdoor pool (towels provided) that was never crowded. The staff are very discrete and friendly and have good english. The meals served during the wedding were of a very high standard.

Oropesa itself is a very charming town and quite friendly. As with most towns in Spain, very few can speak english so would recommend learning a few basics for ordering food etc (bring a dictionary for reading menus).

All in all, a magnificent hotel and would highly recommend

This parador is excellent apart from the evening meal, which was not brilliant, but adequate. Compared to other Paradors we felt the food lacked imagination. Breakfast, however, was first class as in all Parador's. The room was great with all facilities and the hotel is in a pretty village about 40 - 60 miles from Madrid.

Hotel can be seen from motorway but on entering the narrow village streets it disappears from sight, few clear direction signs and was quite fun trying to find. Outside really impressive as are the public rooms inside. Restaurant is good although many of the choices were similar or same as Parador we stayed in the previous two nights. Staff very courteous and helpful. Good for overnight stop or quiet relaxing time but little to see or do in terms of major sight seeing.

We stayed there 1 night, but it was fantastic, the room was awesome. Oropesa is really charming, the parking area was within the parador, very safe! Usually, when we stay at a parador, we are quite disapointed by the restaurant, but this time, it was really delicious from the starter to the desert! Unfortunately most of the guest didn't have dinner ther and we were almost all by ourselves in there!
Breakfast was as usual very rich.
