Since 1969 I have visited, worked in, lived in Spain, in a variety of 'lifestyles'. In any category, at any price, I have never found such a poorly run hotel. Surly, even unplesant reception staff; dirty rooms; in fact, I felt that place was sinister and vaguely threatening. We were glad to leave without breakfast very early the next morning.
Even our dog was upset, and it's funny, because you know how they say dogs sense something. He was in the 4x4 in the car park and barked and howled all night -- yet, he has travelled extensively in that vehicle around Europe without any problems. In fact, he loves the ritual of travelling and sleeping in the Cherokee. He has never done that before or since in any place where we have stayed.
Sad, because location and setting are magnificent, but it is doubtful to me that these compensate for the sheer unpleasantness of staying there.
