“Worth every penny for the view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Parador is on the hill opposite the city of Toledo. We were offered a change of room to the one we booked as the original one 'did not have the view'. It was certainly worth the change. The room was spacious, the bar and terrace had the view, and the restaurant was good, with excellent breakfast buffet.

We stayed at the Parador de Toledo for one night in September 2012 on our trip through Spain.
Arrived a little earlier than expected and the staff were very helpful, stored our luggage and we went and had a cup of tea on the terrace and admired the magnificent views of Toledo. We got into our room around 12.15 p.m. which was good - put everything away and then ventured into Toledo. We left our car at the Parador and took a taxi into town - 11 Euro one way and 9 Euro on the way back. This saved having to look for a park there. Staff helpful at reception with map of area and regarding taxi transport which they ordered for us.

We had paid extra for a room with the view over Toledo and it was well worth it. Sitting on your deck at night is a magical experience. Loved staying here. The room was tastefully decorated with the moorish influence. Yes, the bed is very firm but it was fine. Found all the amenities to be absolutely fine. The bathroom was large, clean and had a good shower.

We went and had a drink on the upstairs terrace - once again admired the view and decided to eat early as couldn't wait until the restaurant opened at 8.30 p.m. Once the lights come on over the city it takes on another appearance and we loved just sitting here. May we suggest that perhaps the restaurant could open slightly earlier say 7.30 p.m. to cater for tourists who have travelled all day and want to eat slightly earlier. However, the meal on the cafe/terrace was fine that night.

Breakfast was adequate.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a view over Toledo - well worth it.

This was the last of several Paradores in which we stayed on our Spanish road trip. Having stayed in the city itself on our last visit we agreed that this was a far better option as the views from the terrace, restaurant and our "twin room with view" were simply spectacular.
However, the staff here were the least friendly of our trip and the cleanliness of our room left a lot to be desired which is unusual for a parador in our experience. As usual with paradores the bed was much too firm.
The restaurant staff were the exception and were very pleasant. The food was very average.
I would stay again as, like so many paradores, the location is unrivalled. I would probably eat elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a view of the city, it is well worth it.

Took a cab from Toledo, the views from road alone are worth visiting the parador, and then you walk in though the front door seeing the view of Toledo over the terras. incredible views.
Check in was fast and efficient (when I got round to it); I had a nice room with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and part of Toledo. Even though it was very near to the reception and the lounge it was quiet.
Good bed.
The terras is worth spending time on, but it was crowded even on a October saturday afternoon (I really wouldn't want to be there in high season).
The restaurant good, both for dinner (the atmosphere is typical for a hotel restaurant, ie not brilliant), but pretty good service. Breakfast was pretty nice, I have seen better, but also much worse. I wouldn't make plans to go elsewhere for breakfast.

I've added welcoming staff to the title having seen that others were not always impressed - we had no problem in terms of helpfulness and good service. The views are great - our balcony had the view on the TA photo and lit up at night he town is even more special. Good facilities, although you do need a taxi from the station or town, and the pool was closed even with the temperature in the high 20's. Good extensive breakfast selection.

We are a family of five (2 teens, 1 tween, mum & dad) who stayed for one night at the Toledo parador on our road trip from Madrid to Marbella at the beginning of August this year. Undoubtedly, this parador's USP are the fabulous views overlooking the gem of a city that is Toledo, however, we found this parador to be the least impressive of the three in which we stayed during our five-day trip. Our rooms were perfectly fine although they overlooked the pool and it certainly would have been worth paying a bit extra in order to have had city-side views, however, we were travelling on a Parador Pass so this didn't bother us unduly. We arrived mid-afternoon and made our way down to the pool area, which was very crowded. In fact, we couldn't get any sunbeds and the guy in charge didn't try too hard to see if he could procure any for us - we ended up lying on our towels for quite a while until we were able to nab newly-vacated beds. Not a good first impression. Dinner that night started off promisingly enough - our view from the terrace was simply spectacular, however, things started to go downhill once our main dish arrived. My husband and I decided to order one of the regional specialities - the roast suckling lamb, which was 54 Euros for a portion for two. It was served with potatoes and baby lettuce (very little evidence of the latter when it arrived). Unfortunately, for me, I was served the fattiest, most tasteless portion, which at that price galled me somewhat. My son ordered a burger from the kids's menu which was simply horrible while one of my daughters ordered some kind of a potato/fish croquette that she described as "average" and not particularly tasty. In short, it was quite a poor meal overall and certainly not value for money. Breakfast the next day was fine if nothing out of the ordinary. The service was good although the people on reception could certainly do with a refresher course in customer service - not particularly friendly or welcoming. The parador itself has an impersonal ambience and reminded me of a ranch in terms of architectural style and decor, but since it is a comparative "new build" in parador terms - dating from 1928 - maybe this is a slightly unfair criticism. Final verdict - would I rush back? Probably not - if I were to pay a return visit to Toledo, I would prefer to stay in the city itself as I think that there more atmospheric and better value for money places to stay in.

Room Tip: Bite the bullet and pay a bit extra for a view over the city!
