I chose the hotel because of the traditional-and-modern hint and was not disappointed. The room was very nice, with excellent bathroom, caring for all the necessities, and the receptionist was also very helpful.
However, there were some not so pleasant things as well. The first - as usual in Spain - was the noise, both from street and from the neighboring bathrooms. The other thing was that our window was located the same level as the small square and stairs in front of the hotel, so, basically, if we kept the window open, anyone could look in. Though the windows are barred, have curtains and shutters, keeping them closed made quite hot and dark in the room.
But anyway I liked this hotel very much.

“Great choice for Toledo getaway”

Hotel Pintor El Greco Sercotel

Oct 10, 2007

In such a compact city as Toledo, we thought this hotel was great. It was easy to access ( as Toledo could be quite challenging if you decide to drive through it) and the best part was that it did had its own parking.
It is not a 5 star hotel, however for a 3 -4 star we did not mind. Yes, you will not have a pool, 3 restaurants and a spa, however it is clean, staff is helpfull and it has its own charm. The rooms are average, maybe a little outdated, however matching the architecture of the hotel. We found it comfortable and pretty.

“The old capital of Spain and where to stay”

The hotel El pintor El Greco is in the heart of the old part of the city within the ancient walls and walking distance to most of the important sites including museums, churches where El Greco's paintings hang, his home, and the famous Alcazar. Municipal buses take all around if you don't like to walk up-hill much. Restaurants are good to excellent. Hotel staff is very helpful. Many old Sephardic sites; museums that have been sinagogues, mosques, and churches at one time or another. Only difficulty is getting to Toledo if you fly into Madrid. I finally opted for a taxi which was not cheap but if you are in a group or family would be easier than the train.
Hotel was modern, lobby had a computer to got onto internet. Staff spoke English, German and Spanish (of course). I spent ten days here doing research but had a great time as well.

“More bad than good”

Hotel Pintor El Greco Sercotel

Jan 8, 2007

Hotel Pintor El Greco is a really old hotel which was something else entirely before they made a hotel out of it. I thought it was interesting, but it was not designed to be a hotel, so expect the same. The location was OK, a little out of the way, but not bad. Would I stay there again? No. Once was more than enough.

“Great choice for seeing the old town”

Hotel Pintor El Greco Sercotel

Jan 6, 2007

Assuming you want to tour the old town, this hotel is in a fantastic location and is quite pleasant. It is adjacent to the old synagogues and El Greco museum, and a short walk to the top of the hill for the cathedral and shops. There is a small park just across the street with a view across the river. Although the area has many tourist sites, we felt there were a lot of locals too and it was fun to stroll in the evening.

The hotel has charm and pleasant rooms, although ours, number 10, was on the first floor overlooking the baggage drop-off-area and we had some motor noises. It might have been better to be on an upper floor. There were three twin beds in our triple.

We enjoyed Toledo greatly and would have liked an extra day.

We had breakfast at the hotel and it was pretty expensive for what it was. I probably would have opted for a room-only-rate and found breakfast elsewhere if we hadn't been pressed for time.
