“A bit of Spanish history,A bit of Spanish hospitality, coupled with good walking shoes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

This was a two day stop over, we choose the Maria Christina because of the reasonable reviews. This is a very nice , very Spanish hotel, rooms are large, as are the bathrooms both were very clean, the beds comfortable with clean bedding. The staff pleasant and helpful, the buffet breakfast plenty and good ( someone needs to teach them how to cook bacon ). We had one evening meal in the hotel restaurant which was excellent, the head waiter of the best, attentive together with really good service, coffee and brandies severed in the front lounge were good.
The bar was not open while we were there and had not been open for some time which let the hotel down a little, the hotel is outside the city walls 2 or 3 hundred metres and Toledo is hard walking all up and down and the bar would have been a nice bolt hole to rest our wary legs and talk about the day. Overall the Maria Christina is very well priced and of a very good standard, there is good onsite parking, street parking right out side the hotel is free but very limited but there is payable parking under the hotel which we choose. Next time we are in Toledo we would stay again.

Room Tip: When going up to the old town use the bus its cheap and frequent the bus stop just a few yards fro...

I stayed in this hotel as a last top of a road trip in Spain, and it was very convenient because you don´t have to drive in the city centre and you can park your car at their private parking at a very reasonable price. Still you are only 10 minutes walk from the old town. Overall the hotel is well kept and clean. Nothing fancy but definitively not bad. The room was big and although it looked a little bit old it was ok. The bathroom was definitively very modern and big. So in general I was happy for what I paid which I found to be good value for money.

I really like the location, although it was a bit hard to find when coming walking from the main train station. A bit of a down side is that at night almost every restaurant around was closed, so the only choice was the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast buffet was alright, but many of the glasses were chipped, so be careful not to cut yourself. The only thing I didn't like were that it gets kinda' noisy whenever some neighbor is taking a shower, and also the floor is too cold and so as an overall the room was very cold. But if I return to Toledo I must definitely go back to this hotel!

The Maria Cristina was perhaps the best value of our trip for only 49 euros for a double. Parking is extra, but it is right under the hotel and easily accessed by elevator. This is a real bonus if you're driving, plus there is easy access from the main highways. Our corner room was huge, extremely well soundproofed with a minibar, which kept our things cold too. The WIFI in the room was a bit weak, but I had excellent signal in the extra large bathroom. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was impeccably clean and well kept. It is right next to the bullring and across from the courthouse, so there were always police around and the area is very safe. If you're not up to the hotel buffet, there is a great bar/breakfast place across the street - Los Treboles - where you can get a great hot breakfast for < 4 euros after 7:30am. There is also a neighborhood bakery and a convenience store less than a block away. The walk to the main plaza is only about 15 minutes if you take your time and it is a pleasant uphill walk which will take you right past the not to be missed and free Museo de Santa Cruz.just off the Plaza Zocodover. Walking the ancient streets of Toledo is half the fun of this place, so you should enjoy it. I would definitely stay at the Maria Cristina again.

This hotel is located just outside the Toledo City walls and is v.good value. It is in a good position for those travelling by car. The hotel offers underground parking for €9.80/day. Taxis or buses can take the visitor up into the city (eg to Plaza de Zocodova). WiFi is available but slow. Buffet breakfast is €7.80. Rooms (ours was on the 1st Floor) were spacious and clean, with a Juliet balcony overlooking the street. Heating in November needed to be turned down for a comfortable temperature, (if the windows were left open it is too noisy). Staff are pleasant, helpful and can speak English. There is an elevator. Recommended for a short stay in the lovely city of Toledo.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the first floor.

The hotel has a rustic charm, with many antiques. A very good atmosphere. Could easily pass as a four star. One word of caution if allocated a room on the third floor be wary, as these are attic rooms, and if room 307 is an example they are not for large adults.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

Thought this hotel was a three star and expected it to be similar to other three star hotels in Spain we had visited. By comparison we would have therefore only rated this hotel generously as a two star. It was tired, basic, old fashioned but not in a charming way, rooms were very small, it could have been cleaner in the rooms and bathroom. When we mentioned the shower was broken and bathroom was not very clean to receptionist on booking out this information was met with indifference. Also in terms of the location you are out of town and it's a strenuous steep walk into the old town. There looked to be some very nice three star hotels within the walls of the old town, which might be worth considering before this hotel.
