“Good 2 star accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

This is a good 2 star hotel. (The star ratings are meant to help guests make choices.)
The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms and showers simple.
We were in room 12 at the back. It was very quiet.
There is no breakfast but there are lots of cafes nearby.
So 2 star means simple and functional.

The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus/train station/ Brittany Ferry terminal.
So very convenient and central, particularly if you are in transit and on a budget.

Room Tip: Our room (12) had secondary glazing and was very quiet. I suspect all the rooms are similar.

We stayed here two nights and I guess we got what we paiformer, it was clean and depending on what you were wanting to do in santander the location was ok, definitely the dodgier end of town which we were ok with but some people could not be. A horrible drilling sound from the floor above started at a crisp 8:00am and lasted for the next few hours periodically, not great considering we had experienced the bar scene the night before. There was an...interesting smell in the foyer and lift of the building and the walls were very thin so we could hear EVERYTHING that went on next door as I'm sure they could hear us. We barely saw the staff but they were nice when we did. We've stayed in better for less.

We stayed in Santander for one night, in transit on the way to San Sebastian.

This hotel was in an excellent location (10min walk from central bus station).

The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and the staff were very helpful. The price was 50 euros, which was extremely cheap for such a nice standard of room.

Would definitely stay here again if in Santander.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and found it to be perfectly comfortable. We arrived early in the morning and they let us get organized, use their restrooms to freshen up and leaver our luggage until our room would be ready. The next day we were able to leave our luggage with them until that night (we were taking the overnight bus to Barcelona and it didn't leave until around 9 PM).

The room, the shared bathroom and the location were all great.

The only thing I might mention on the negative side had to do with the staff. Most everyone was friendly enough but it seemed odd that they wouldn't be more used to dealing with tourists. My Spanish is slow but I usually get by just fine. One woman at the hostel, who didn't seem particularly busy either time we talked to her, spoke so quickly (even when I asked her if she might please slow down) that it almost seemed like she was doing it on purpose and making fun of my incompetence - something I have never experienced anywhere else in my travels. It bummed me out.

Also, the staff didn't know if there were any public restrooms near the beaches which seems like an odd thing to not know if you work at a hostel or hotel in a beach town. We didn't need help with anything else like city buses, etc. so it is possible that they are highly knowledgable in other areas but I might recommend doing all your research before you arrive.

Still, it was a perfectly fine place to stay and afterall, they aren't promising tour services or English-speaking abilities.

Room Tip: I see no need to splurge on a room with private bath, the shared one was fine. Rooms seemed full but...
