We sayed at Posada Mies de Villa for 3 nights at the beginning of Septemer. We were travelling with a 10 months old daughter. We really liked Posada Mies de Villa. The room was lovely. The hosts were more than helpful and trying to make us feel as welcome as possible. Breakfast was served on terasse with a great selection of cereal, fruit, tosts and jams. Somo has a beautiful beach and it takes less than 10 mins to get there from B&B. We also recommend a hiking route (9 km) along the clifs, east of Somo, some beautiful views and little hidden beaches to explore.

I stayed here on a recent motorcycle tour of Spain and was very glad I did. Antonio and family were excellent hosts and provided excellent suggestions on where to go and eat in the evening. They even run a small motorcycle shop next door. Breakfast was excellent on the veranda each morning and I also found time to make use of the honesty bar in the evening. Enjoyed stay so much I will be back with the boss (Wife). Somo beach, 5-10 minutes walk from posada is fantastic and I spent each afternoon\evening strolling along the beach and going for a swim. Some powerful waves and a lot of people learning to surf. Excellent stuff. Somo being a spanish village speaks mainly spanish so brush up on your spanish or miming ability. I enjoyed miming for my part and everywhere I went was friendly. Just love northern Spain.

We stayed at the Posada Mies de Villa for 3 nights at the beginning of our holiday through Northern Spain and it fulfilled all our requirements. We had booked 2 rooms, one for us and one for our children (9 and 14) who agreed to share a twin room. The rooms were located across the corridor which made for an easy stay.
When we arrived, Antonio signed us in and showed us to our room. I was keen to try out my Spanish but as soon as he realised that the rest of the family only spoke English, he communicated with us in perfect English througout (as did the rest of the family).
The rooms were cosy with all necessities including a hairdryer. Worth mentioning that both rooms had a free English plug socket (so no need to bring a converter) which was great for recharging I-pods etc.
Inside the hotel there was a good WIFI connection for which we got the password.
Breakfast was served from 8.30-11.00 (which both our daughters thought was great) and there is also an honesty bar serving a variety to alcoholic and non-alcoholid drinks. Perfect for families who don't fancy staying out too late with the kids.
As all hotels we stayed at, this place had no carpets which is great for the climate. It does mean however, that noise appears louder than it really is. Since we travelled with kids we went to bed significantly earlier than Spanish travellers and hence heard quite a bit of noise as other people returned to the hotel from their nights out. This was not helped by the fact that we had to have the window open, facing the car park, because it was too warm otherwise.
The location of the posada is great - away from the main town but easily accessible by a short 10 minute walk. The town itself appears to be a relaxed, family beach holiday environment. The beaches within walking distance are great, as is the surf. The water appeared clean, the beaches likewise. There were free showers as well as toilets on the beach and during normal holiday hours, a lifeguard as well.
All in all, I would recommend this place if you want to explore the local area but don't fancy staying in a city (i.e. Santander).

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor will have less noise. Ask for a room facing the courtyard for even more qu...

We stayed at Mies de Villa last year and were so impressed we repeated our stay this year with other members of our family when completing 2 weeks of touring France and Spain on motorbikes.
From the entrance, to the rooms, to the garden is just lovely and the continental breakfast well...it is a must, all jams homemade.
Short stroll into Somo with many restaurants and beach is lovely, sandy and long.
Would recommend and hope this will not be out last visit there.

We booked in here for two nights at the start of a bike tour of Spain, Andorra and France and ended up staying for four nights. A beautiful house with a fantastic welcome from our hosts. This area really was beautiful bike touring country and the expert advice from Antonio, Theresa and the rest of the family was priceless. We loved the relaxing atmosphere of the house with it's beautiful, comfortable rooms and the luxurious garden. Breakfast on the veranda, beers in the garden at night, all in all a lovely welcoming home from home to which we will definitely return. Thanks for a great stay!

I spent a weekend with friends at this hidden gem of a place. The weather was a bit hit-and-miss, but everything that could be controlled was of an excellent standard. The owners of Mies de Villa are exceptional hosts and it was lovely to eat breakfast overlooking the beautifully cultivated garden. The highlight of breakfast was the homemade jam. I had to have an extra slice of toast...everyday...the lime flavour was exquisite. All the rooms were beautiful and clean, and the posada is located very close to the beach. Despite the rain, we managed to go for a walk along the sand. This place is great for surfers and people who want a quiet few days away from the city. I would strongly recommend Mies de Villa to anyone.

This lovely posada has everything you could wish for if you're exploring the local area by motorcyle.Easy to find and we were given a really warm welcome. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and had beautiful views of the local mountains. Good substantial breakfasts, an honesty bar which we found really handy for that late night drink or two, and expert advice on the best scenery roads, and sights to explore. We stayed for nine nights and the family who own and run the posada made us feel so at home.We ventured into the mountains (Picos and local) everyday and it was an amazing experience.
In the evenings we just wandered to the local restaurants in Somo, all good but take a phrase book for ordering!! Overall a fabulous holiday!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the mountains to the south. They also have some rooms with a small bal...
