We have just returned from a enjoyable holiday at the hotel perla. Food was above average and we found the food very tasty - a good selection and we ate well at the hotel. My only very small complaint Spanish Tea Bags! I took my own.

The location was very pleasant in a nice area where you didn't feel threatened. The mini bus was adequate at the time of our stay but we found the walk down into town acceptable and sometimes got a taxi back at night.

There are plenty of excursions on offer and we had a lovely day out at the Loro Parque - well worth a visit for all age groups. The Gardens Botanique are only a short walk away and very shady on a hot day! Peurto de la Cruz is a lovely resort with a very nice frontage.
Shops and bars galore to appeal to everyone.

All in all the staff at the Perla were very helpful, the rooms cleaned to a high standard and amenities good. I would return there for a holiday.

Well me and my boyfriend thought this hotel was really nice considering the price we paid for all inclusive. Excellent service, clean towels and sheets everyday. The food was really good given the fact that they do try to cater for all. The staff were friendly, however spoke very little english.. but what do you expect when your abroad. It was a bit up a hill but it was not a problem for us as we dont mind a walk. Not too many English there or young people, but we found it relaxing for a quite break. I would reccomend this hotel for it's good service excellent food if you want a quite holiday, we would defo go back there

Me and my boyfriend both 19 year olds went to hotel perla tenerife in june for 10 nights and hated every minute of it i cried every single day cos i wanted to come home, not one person spoke english it was full of old people who were either spanish or german and the food was disgusting! Again as the other review says the only edible thing was chips i would never recommend this to anyone. There is absolutley nothing to do unless your willing to spend lots of money like we did and travel down to the south of the island there is no sun in the north and it is full of hills. The swimming pool in the hotel is crap we went in it one day only and came out in a rash from head to toe i have been abroad quite a lot and have never had this problem. The hotel room stunk of sewrage and the maids decided to come in one morning and clean around us while we were in bed!
I serached for a flight home despretley every day but we could find nowhere i also contacted my agent to see if they could get us home but they were just as bad.
Please if you read this in time save yourself and change your holiday so you can actually enjoy it!

Just came back from Perla Tenerife and we hated every minute of our stay. Hotel is stuck in the middle of nowhere a good mile from the town and all downhill, you need to be very fit to try to walk back. We even had to get a bus into town to get a newspaper. The hotel seems to only cater for Germans and Spanish. Not a place for Brits. The food was disgusting and seemed regurgitated from previous days menu and was mediterranian based (fish fish and more fish even some of the salad was covered in fish) we lived on chips for 2 weeks. The shallow end of pool is about 4'6'' deep and about 15' square not child friendly in my eyes. Certain bar staff keep you waiting for drinks and serve others before you, even knowing you have been waiting 10 minutes. Entertainment was Spanish and German singers snakes and parrots. No minibar or bathrobes in room as advertised, found a couple of large cockroaches (2inches big ) in room so had to keep clothes in cases. And it is cloudy most of the time, we had about 4 days sunshine the whole time due to mountains trapping clouds.

Just returned from 1 week hol at Hotel perla tenerife, It's situated within a pleasant residential area just a 10 min walk down hill to the town, but use the new foot bridge route over the v.parched ravine behind hotel. The Hotel is comfy and clean with pool, sun terrace and Bar on the roof with lovely view of sea and mnt Teide. We had all inclsve, beverages were good and the food was ok very spanish which is good but I think some of it was a bit low quality, especially the attempt of an english brekky hmmm (take ye own tea bags) lol, we ate out about 3 nights but that was no reflection on hotel. The majority of guests at the hotel were Spanish from mainland Spain and 20% were German and 5% British.. My attempts of speaking my basic spanish skills just confused and staff knew only basic english so there was a bit of a barrier going on...ola, bueno, gracias, por favor, cerveza, agua and pointing to things seems to get you by quite well. I quite liked the multicultured atmosphere it made a change from very british hotels/resorts you get and the staff were friendly. Puerto is very cosmopolitin very characteristic especially the old town... loads of lovely plazas, cafes, restaurants and food out is very reasonably priced. Really pretty harbour,Lido, sun platforms, casino and gardens. Go to Loro park (parque) Its a really lovely animal park with happy animals in it. This was my first time ive been to tenerife and I think Puerto de la cruz feels like you are experiencing the tenerife culture that you wouldnt get as much in other resorts on the island. I noticed that there isnt much ancient history in tenerife. On the whole Puerto is lovely and isnt boring, it has some cool trendy bars (not cheesy), the north side is very green and botanical and the clouds are refreshing, I would go back to puerto but not in the near future as there are other places to visit.
