“Top notch appartments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

This was mine and my husbands first time in Tenerife and we had a lovely 2 weeks holiday. The appartment was one of the best we had stayed in. I think the pictures make the rooms look bigger as all of the fittings are white, but it was plenty big enough, spottlessly clean, with everything you could possibly need. We had a lovely view of the sea and tennis courts, and I spend many a happy hour on the balcony with a book and a drink.
I agree that one downside is having no air con, and I did struggle at night. However, we went in the middle of a heatwave and it was extremly hot for the whole 2 weeks, with not one hint of cloud. The beds and pillows were also a bit hard.
The staff, especially the cleaners, were all excellent and very friendly.
I did like the area, and the town was lovely, but found that there wasnt really a choice of places to walk. I did get a bit fed up of doing the same route every night, and we tried to vary it by going different ways to the same place! I agree that its certainly not a beach holiday, and we did miss that. However, the big pool complex near the sea is cheap, and a good alternative.
We had some lovely food, at very good prices. Im a vegetarian but never really struggled. There is a veggie restaurant for snacks behind the old church, but most had a number of options. The best ones we found were the Pomodoro in the cliffs, and the Marea just of the main square, which was lovey. In some of the restaurants service was very poor, and we got up and left several times due to waiters ignoring us. Good service was definately something that made us go back to the same places.Taxis are cheap too, if you dont fancy walking home up the hill.
All in all we had a lovely holiday, and would definately return one day.
I highly reccomend Loros Park for a day out, but avoid the botanical park-my back garden is more interesting!

Room Tip: I would avoid rooms facing the road

Puerto De La Cruz is not a place for lager louts and rowdy hooligans. If this is your bag go to the south.

Contrary to public opinion the weather in Puerto is just as good as anywhere in the south.

We have been going to Casablanca since 1996 and never had a bad experience. The quality of maintenance and housekeeping is second to none. The reception staff are multi lingual, very experienced and exceedingly helpful.

There is always a buzz about the complex and most of the guests are very friendly. There are plenty of organised activities on site and the apartments are of within easy reach of the centre of town.

We have just returned from yet another enjoyable holiday and are looking forward to many more visits.

Travellers from Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view above ground floor with a sunny balcony.

We stayed here October 2012. The self catering apartments are spacious and well equipped. The kitchen has everything that you are likely to need plus more. Comfortable seating area, decent sized television. Huge balcony. Choice of dining areas-there is a breakfast bar, inside dining table and dining table on balcony.

The rooms are not air conditioned but the bedroom does have a ceiling fan. The decor is a little dated in style but everything is clean and well looked after.

The hotel is on the top of a hill, and the beach and town reached by either a path up the hill or a long flight of stairs but both are quite tiring.

Lovely and very helpful staff

We stayed here between August 30 and September 13 in a one bedroom apartment. We were in block four on the fourth floor facing into the main complex.

The reception staff are incredibly friendly and helpful on arrival and they maintained that each and every day.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and tidy on arrival and the cleaning staff kept it that way throughout our stay. There is no full room cleaning service on Thursdays or Sundays but the bins are still emptied on those days, important if you are cooking as the bin under the sink unit needs to be emptied every day.

The main room has a large sofa and armchair, the sofa turning into a double bed. There is a dining table for set for four and four bar-stools at the breakfast bar. There is a flat screen TV with an OK selection of channels. You have to get a remote from reception if you don’t want to navigate the on-board buttons. The apartment would comfortably sleep four adults. Soundproofing was so-so but we didn’t have any real issues during our stay.

The kitchen area is very well thought out and contains pretty much everything needed. Oven and halogen range top; Combi-microwave; Toaster; Kettle; Coffee maker; Juicer; six sets of plates, cups, glasses and tableware; various pots and pans; Good sized fridge with icebox. We certainly managed to prepare proper meals here and not just snacks and sandwiches.

All of the apartments have either a balcony or terrace. The ones on the fourth floor are huge. Ours would quite easily accommodate thirty people standing. Nice to have but somewhat under utilised during our stay. On the other hand the apartments on the ground floor are adjacent to the walkways, so you will get foot traffic if you are sitting outside. The larger terraces have loungers provided along with outside furniture, the smaller balconies don’t have loungers. We even spotted what appeared to be barbecues for the appeasements opposite. Not sure I'd be brave enough for that.

Each apartment block has a laundry room on the lower level with both washers and driers for three Euros apiece. Also a whole row of ironing boards. I thought it was a form of gym area for ironing hobbyists. There is also an iron and ironing board in the room if you get withdrawal symptoms.

There are games rooms in each block on the lower level with table tennis, computer games, seating and a child play area. It is rather starkly lit area with flat fluorescent strip lighting, making it feel a bit utilitarian and not particularly welcoming...but I guess children and games addicts would ignore this.

The pool area is well laid out and of a fair size; you won’t be doing Olympic laps in it. There is a section set aside for the toddlers. It can get rather full by mid-day if you are someone that prefers to use the pool for a proper swim, we would recommend mornings (9 - 10:30) or after 4:30 pm. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool and it was never too crowded to find a spot.

The apartments have a security box which is available for a charge of €10.50 per week. I always have a problem with being charged for this but most travel insurance policies state that if it's available you have to use it. The cost includes insurance as well, so it isn’t just rental.

The apartments have Wi-Fi Internet access for an extra charge. Nine Euros for fourteen days, although you can have less or more days depending on the length if your stay. It is fast enough for browsing and email. There was an issue with the whole setup for a couple of days during our stay and we could only get access in the bedroom area from the next apartment’s router. Others in the complex had no connectivity at all apparently. The routers are maintained by an external company and they took a couple of days to arrive and sort the problem out. There is Wi-Fi access available for free in the reception area which is provided by a separate access provider and this was not affected.

If you have an apartment facing into the complex noise from the bar area evening entertainment is amplified by the buildings around the pool. If you are sensitive to night time noise you may find it somewhat annoying. The evening entertainment finishes at eleven thirty each night and doesn't happen every night. Likewise the cleaning of the pool which starts around eight a.m. creates a fair bit of noise first thing if you're after a lie-in. Of the outward facing apartments the only ones I would see possibly having an issue are the ones over the entrance to the underground parking area to the left facing the main entrance as there may be a noise issue here. Also the ones directly over the bar area would probably not be my first choice to stay in.

The external corridor light switches are very similar to the apartment’s door bells. I mention this because, yes, we did get a couple of early wake up chimes from fellow guests groping for the light switch. The clue is that the light switch is on the wall opposite the doors and the doorbell is on the wall on the same side as the door.

Be aware that the apartments are situated at the top of a VERY steep hill. Getting to the town centre shopping areas and the sea shore will involve descending and ascending either the road, we found this the easier option, or via the Camino del Cabras staircase. Either way if you are not fit expect a great work out... where else can you boast getting fitter on the way to and from evening drinks at the local bars? Not recommended for anybody with trouble walking.

The apartments are situated close to several food shops: two that are below the apartment area in town. The closest and better of the pair is Mercadora, in the 'pyramid' complex just at the bottom of the steep road/ staircase. Hyperdino, a more discount type shop good for basics, water, magazines is just about 5 minutes further along towards the left from the bottom of the stairs/road. We recommend getting bread and croissants and other baked goods from the bakery Pan del Horno also about 5 minutes from bottom of the steep road or from the brilliant German bakery that is attached to yet another quite good food store in the La Paz area on the road towards the Botanical Gardens. This food store also carries a great variety of maps (touring, hiking, island wide and for specific cities on the island) and travel guides if you need them) Yes, it involves either a bit of a steep climb up the road towards the botanical gardens or up yet another staircase.

We liked to take the 40 minute hike through the banana plantations to the spectacular surfers beach Playa Bollulo. Complete with beach hut bar for drinks. The sights along the walk alone are worth the effort. Also worth it if you don't want to spend all of your time around the pool.

All told the Apartment Hotel Casa Blanca is a great place to stay. Friendly staff and a well-kept, clean environment. It is situated very well for most areas of interest in Puerto de la Cruz and the North of the island and especially Teide.

We would quite happily recommend it and will be returning ourselves.

Room Tip: Go for either the one or two bedroom suites. Higher floors away from the bar area are quieter.

Just returned from a fantastic week in Tenerife staying at the Casablanca apartments. I really can't see how anyone can review this place in anyway other than extremeley positive. Apartments are very well equipped, exceptionally clean and well located. Yes there is a walk into town but a taxi is around €3 so hardly the end of the world. Apartments are cleaned daily except Thursday and Sunday. Staff are polite and there is evening entertainment every night even in October. I found the whole place had a great atmosphere and was able to relax and sleep well despite others comments regarding noise, which I don't understand.
I would be confident in recommending the Casablanca to anyone, wanting comfortable well equipped accomodation in a good location.

Room Tip: Room 7203 has a huge balcony but doesn't get sun during the day - Depends what you want really...

These apartments are very well equipped with everything you need for your holiday. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms themselves are clean and tidy, as is the hotel grounds. The bar is well stocked and the food is of a reasonable standard and quite cheap! All in all this is a great little place for a weeks stay in Tenerife!
